Two-piece waterpoofs - recommendations?

Some thoughts on waterproofs:

I find it much easier to put on 2 piece waterproofs than 1 piece.

My motorcycle kit is adjusted with liners sweaters etc for the ambient temperature.

The m/c jackets used to have their waterproof layer on the outside so the warmth layer inside was dry. My latest jacket has the waterproof layer on the inside. It is dry inside but the jacket gets heavy with water. I use Berghaus pac-lite jacket & trousers over everything. They are Goretex & therefore completely waterproof, they are breathable and they go on easily with zips and flaps on both items.  No connection with Berghaus - just works for me. Hope this helps.

Is that Rukka, your inside-waterproof jacket? I understand/possibly remember from when I was researching that that was the case. My Halvarssons setup is the traditional I think, waterproof outer.

Seems illogical to me, unless the outer layer warms up like a wet suit, and then acts as extra insulation. It would also decrease the breathability, with a high concentration of water on the outside - osmosis of sweat ain't gonna happen - so to speak.

I thought the same when I bought my GS and a BMW Savannah suit to complete 'the image' 

The GoreTex liners were a separate 'suit' on the inside, zipped and press-studded in place. Despite my initial reservations the whole thing was totally waterproof and warm in the extreme.

I occasionally chuck the trousers, which I still wear with my Halvarssons top bits, in the wash with some Tech Wash and proofer to keep the worst at bay but after many seasons use, the system is still hermetically sealed but breathable - and I sweat a lot

Halvarsson do some good quality kit. I like my jacket. Not cheap stuff though.

It’s not always the case Ron, but mostly one gets what one pays for. Love my Halvarssons safety jacket, if only it didn't weigh the same as the bike...

It's got a hood that is folded into the collar. Not sure if I really want that - time will tell whether it's a boon or a pain.

It's a pain. I cut the hood off. Really not needed, and makes head rotations slightly awkward. It might OK on a sit-up-and-beg bike, but not a K1300S.

They didn't have the matching trousers in my size, but I did have a gander at the BMW Rain Lock ones at Wollastons, and they looked better, with non-slide patches on the bum:

I went for the BMW Rain Lock trousers mentioned above.
XXXL fits a fat Richtea nicely. North Oxford BMW got two extra sizes in just for me, so I was quite impressed. Most shops just shrug and say 'Haven't got that size in stock.' Well done, NOG.

They're also on sale at the moment if anyone else needs a pair - £50 instead of £69, which helps, but ring first just in case not all dealers are doing a sale (I know that Wollastons were too, though).

They're even lighter material than the Held jacket, but the NOG guy says they're still quite strong, but I guess I'll need to be careful not to catch them on the pegs too often. They have v long zips up the inside legs for ease of climbing in.
