Lucky that nobody died IMHO - both Moto2 and MotoGP.
They need to consider how to stop fast wayward machines crossing the track on the inside of corners - i.e. avoid the T-Bone.
Giant aircell fencing on the inside?

That was mental. Rossi got to be thinking!

Everyone knows they'll live forever. Especially racers.

First Yamaha home. Not bad for an old geezer. (I know - two of the other three Yams had mechanical probs, but even so)

So much more open racing with Marc away.
I don't mind him but sometimes golden boy gets a bit too much , but then when it was Rossi it was the same.

Just glad to see the youngsters having a bash...mir, binder etc

Yeah the last two weekends have definitely been more interesting! And the other two races too! Maybe it's not that he isn't racing, but that he isn't even in the paddock :P.

I was disappointed that the only American in the whole Moto riders world gave the comment, "yeah I'm friends with all the old legends and they all message me..."

Just watched the clip of the incident. Bloody hell.

It's most unusual for a bike to carry on at what seemed unabated speed once the rider is unseated and 'lucky' it took off as it left the gravel trap (can't even remember if it is gravel just there, it could just be gravel-coloured tarmac...).

There's too great a difference between the needs of the car and bike worlds now gravel and Litag are increasingly being replaced by run-off areas.

Long term fix:

- Right-left chicance, al la Assen, so the non-brakers go off to the left (outside of the corner)

The first braking point is further from the corner, and buys a bit more space for additional gravel & fencing.
The corner is opened up to 90 deg or so, so it's not a stop/go corner.

Short term fix:
- some IAM cones. :-)

We have active rider-side protection, i.e. airbags.

I wonder when we will have active track-side protection. I am imagining giant nets, on-demand airbags to catch bikes and bikers, pop-up ramps to direct errant motorcycles/riders to the right place. Maybe a giant helter skelter so they all end up back in the pits.

My original comment said:
1) Underpass, plus
2) Launch ramp

But I came over all sensible and modded it. Silly me.

As they are one of the wealthier tracks a long term solution will no doubt be sorted but they need a quick fix by Friday morn.....
