For Sale / Wanted / For Sale: BMW K1300S Akrapovic Slip on & HP Rearsets

For Sale: Akrapovic Titainium Slip On Silencer for the K1300S.
In very good condition c/w Akrapovic carbon heel guard and modified baffle insert (see photo).

I cut away the lower portion of the baffle after seeing a Remus street baffle design. It gives the exhaust
A slightly deeper, louder tone. This exhaust has passed MOTs without any issue by a jobsworth tester!

£450 including postage.

For Sale: BMW (by Gilles Tooling) H.P. Rearsets for the K1300S
In very good condition and supplied with mounting screws (not pictured)

These are not supplied with the extended master cylinder rod clevis. Instead, I made an extended master
cylinder actuator rod which uses the standard clevis and pin (see photo). This works perfectly.

£220 including postage.

I'll continue to hover in the background and possibly proffer a (biased, of course) opinion on all things R1250.
I may try to list the K bits and bobs on the for sale section first if I can suss out how to post photos.

Just a quick line to say I'll be disappearing soon as I'm moving on from the loveable big lump to a R1250RS. As i'm not the biggest person wheeling it about has always made my eyes bulge a bit, so despite it being brutally effecient at doing what I bought it for (demolishing fast A and B roads across Europe) the time has come to treat myself to something slightly more genteel. Have to say, that that new 1250 motor is the first Boxer motor I've enjoyed - most impressive.
Keep your eyes on Ebay as I'll be shifting some K13 shiney bits next week. Toodle oo

« on: April 26, 2019, 01:09:25 pm »
I'm about to treat the old girl to a new battery before an upcoming European blast and I think I've seen a comment regarding throttle reset after disconnecting the battery. I've done forum searches and found nothing, and the workshop info regarding battery change mentions nothing.
Is this urban myth, my imagination, something that does need doing? Cheers for any further advice

Keep the battery fully charged. If a battery voltage drops to around 11.8 volts, it can be recharged and will work, but its capacity will be permanently compromised - the lower the voltage the greater the capacity reduction. I use a fuel stabilizer product (Putolene). Seems to do what is says on the bottle........

Good to hear that you're ok (ish). Riding through the local forests at night is really spooky as you can see lots of reflective eyes and I'm just willing that they behave.
P.S. First dibs on the rearsets..............

Ah Ha, it all makes sense now - cheers. When I wrestle my booster plug off (got hold of a second hand one but I cant say I've noticed much if any difference) and I'm elbow deep in K1300 I may do as the man suggests and see if I notice. Not that I go full throttle much, If any, these days

I'm struggling to understand how removing what seems to be the idle speed control actuator won't give idle speed issues. Kennycagiva help.......

If you want to improve throttle response then unbolt item 5 and cable tie it to one side so it's always at full stroke.

What is item 5?

codged is probably the word to use for myself as well. i take it yours has the rear carrier, thats my start point. i 'm thinking remove small perspex plate and ream out holes on givi moumting plate to suit....insert bolts and voila !!.
you must be happy enough with the strenght of it, that was a big concern for me that the "shakeability" would affect stress points and crack plastic somewhere...either top box mount or god forbid rack mounts....
then theres the aesthetics ....omg am i becoming a purist - say it aint so!

As you say, I removed the Perspex plate, and mounted the Givi plate on short spacers in the available 4 holes. I also bent up up a clamp bar that sits underneath the plate and clamps to the rack bars out of sight. Dead solid and payload and speed resistant I'm certainly not a purist but I like things to look as though they've had a tiny bit of thought put into them............
I done the Ventura thing (I'm now about to Fleabay off my Ventura pack) on and off for years and personally I now much prefer a 60lt rollbag on a small rack if I haven't got the preferred option of hard luggage (my RC8R) - Each to there own and all that
