A great four days in the Welsh countryside with a great bunch of friends.

The B&B was very welcoming, good food, good weather, good beer & lots of twisty roads.

Got to appreciate more some aspects of my newly acquired ( old ) GS1200 that replaced the stolen K1300.
It obviously doesn't have the power of the mighty K but does have other advantages like comfort & manoeuvrability.

Four of us ( Brian, Richard, Matt & myself ) called in to the Spaceguard Centre located high above Knighton on Thursday morning.

Richard had discovered the place where we were treated to a very interesting talk by Jay Tate ( Boffin ) about the risks of Meteorites & Asteroids to our civilisation. https://spaceguardcentre.com/
It's good to know there are people & organisations ( this one gets no government funding at all ) out there looking for such things in the sky, & even better news that they have plans on how to alter their trajectory to miss earth.

Thanks to everyone who organised the routes & the event, & hope to see everyone again next year.

I have had 2 K1300S's, the last one exhibited a similar problem after using the accessory socket for the battery maintainer, the previous one didn't have a problem with this.

When the charger connects through the accessory socket it activates the ZFE module which the socket it electrically routed through.
I found that the ZFE module used about 0.15 Amps from the battery.
With the charger connected that isn't a problem, but if I disconnected the charger the ZFE module remained drawing 0.15 A & so drained the battery in a matter of a couple of days.
Disconnecting the battery for a few moments then re-connecting cleared the battery drain only to return if I charged via the accessory socket again.
This didn't happen with the previous K1300S.

After discovering that, I connected the charger direct to the battery & had no further problems.

They usually get damaged when the bike gets dropped.

So usually just one side is needed.

I can't see that being anything to do with the change of oil.

Sounds more likely to be a coil intermittently breaking down & engine running on 3 cylinders, then intermittently back to 4 giving surges.

If you had wanted to remove those bolts as I have in the past, at least one of them would have been seized.

The captive nut inside the box section frame would then have spun & it would have had to be drilled out.

Suggest anyone wanting to remove those bolts lends their bike to Martin for a few hours before attempting removal. ;D

Both grips are wired back to separate outputs from the ZFE controller.

If one grip works, both should work & are switched on by the ZFE.

One grip goes to A47 on the ZFE with a Black/ Yellow wire & the other goes to A55 with a Black/ White wire.

The Brown wire on both grips is the Earth return.

Hope this helps.

« on: November 13, 2021, 02:06:02 pm »
" Like I said, no idea about the glue, never used it. "

I found that using the glue ( which just seems to be bicycle puncture repair rubber solution ), the sticky string slides through the hole in the tyre easier & less chance of it breaking.

Then after a few minutes it starts to solidify, which can only help keep the string in place.

Have to say the sticky string has always done it for me, up to now, which of course will mean on my next journey, the tyre will be totally shredded by something which no puncture repair kit on the planet will fix ;D.
