For Sale / Wanted / BMW Alarm Remote x 2
« on: March 30, 2024, 12:52:17 pm »
Just come across these two alarm remotes from my stolen K1300.
They are marked as Gemel - TXSHS on the back of them.
I don't know if they work with other models, but my bike was fitted with an OEM DWA6 alarm.
The manual says they can be registered to any DWA6 alarm, maximum of 4 remotes to any one alarm.
Batteries are still ok.
Instructions to register additional remotes are here, page 13 - https://www.bmwk.nl/webPaginas/literatuur/origineel_bmw_materaal/pdf/3000_BMW_alarmHandleidingEngelsDWA-6.pdf
£10 each.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Bike Stolen
« on: August 17, 2021, 05:49:41 pm »
Went on a weekend jaunt across North York Moors last weekend with 6 other friends.
We booked into a Hotel in Middlesbrough Saturday night.
At about 01:00 some scroat stole my K1300S together with a friends Kawa 1000 & was just coming back into the car park to collect a brand new VFR ( which he had already broken the lock to ). :'(

A noise woke my friend who's Kawa had already gone & saw my bike being wheeled across the car park.
She woke her partner who quickly donned his keks etc & ran around to the car park.
Said scroats took to their heels & just made it onto a waiting scooter before he could get hold of them.

Police didn't even attend & I only managed to get an incident No from them after chasing them this morning.

Don't know if I'll get another K or not.

I'm very tempted with a 1250GS, we'll see.

Who's Who? / Hi from sunny Cheshire
« on: May 15, 2015, 10:39:11 am »
Hi all,

Just registered on the site although i'm not new to the BMW marque or K range.

I first bought into the BMW badge around 2002 when I wanted a second bike for touring to go with my Suzuki TL1000S. I bought an oldish ( 1994 I think ) R1100GS.
Loved it except for its power, 80 genuine horses vers the TL's 120 suspect horses.
Then around 2006 I decided to replace the TL & went to the local BMW dealer for a test ride on a R1200GS boxer ( now with 110 horses) & K1200R 160+ horses.

I loved the riding position of the GS but was totally seduced by the K1200's seemingly endless excess of power & its superb handling & brakes.
I looked around for a second hand example & bought an 18 month old K1200R off eBay.
Totally loved it, best bike ever, but unfortunately 18 months later threw it up the road after sliding off on a bend at about 70 on some diesel, which wrote it ( and almost me ) off.

Then decided to get a R1200GS, I loved the riding position & the torquey twins pull from low revs, but missed the K's power.
So sold it after a couple of years & bought another K1200R from a lady artist near Carmarthen. It was just like putting on a nice old pair of well worn leather shoes again.
I loved the bike for 99% of the time but had the surging & poor running at low revs around town that most, if not all, seem to suffer from, just the same as my first K.

A K1300S came up on eBay locally about 3 years ago at a good price, so I bought that.
I had been looking for the R version but there doesn't seem to be as many about as the S.
The low rev running was now totally sorted ( thanks to development work by Ricardo ) & it even returned better fuel consumption.
The suspension doesn't seem as tight as the 1200's, but that might be down to worn shocks as it has now done over 30k miles.

I preferred the R's riding position, so last year fitted a K1300R yoke & bars which has been a good improvement.

I'm retired now so just use the bike for pleasure, day trips to North Wales or Derbyshire Dales.
Been to the IOM TT a number of times & Scotland for long weekends.
Hope to take a longer trip to the continent at some point in the near future.

I do my own servicing & havn't invested in the extended BMW warranty ( fingers tightly crossed ).

It's always good to exchange knowledge with fellow bikers riding the same machine.

Best regards to all, Philip.
