Some?

Now that should be interesting if not a little bit confusing.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

It'll be a bloody nightmare Tom. I went to France three times last year and got a speeding ticket twice  :-[

No problem.

Use your sat nag to warn of speed limit changes just like in UK and stick to the posted speed limits  :)

Simples!

stick to the posted speed limits

That would be my problem  :P I think the French cameras are set to the exact speed limit unlike in the UK where they give you 10% + 2
I'll have to pay more attention  :-[

IIRC the French cameras give you a percentage but that percentage changes with the speed limit, it was all listed on the last speeding fine I received in the mail. Thankfully that was some time ago and I have forgotten the details.

The percentage lowers as the speeds are higher, right?

I thought some department had be reverting to 90kph for some time although the signs haven't been changed back.
So you could get 80kph roads with the old 90kph signs still in situ and 90kph roads with the new 80kph signs. Go figure that one.
I also read somewhere that they only give 5% grace on limits and I guess that will depend on what mood they are in as well.
Just plan a relaxed riding holiday in France, don't be in a hurry to get anywhere and don't enjoy the roads.
Sod it I think I'll go the long way round and give France a miss.
Its not always the destination that counts its the ride, having a destination just stops you going round in circles.

Exactly my plan Ron, not missing France altogether, just leave more time to get from A to B in a leisurely manner.
Or, factor in the speeding fine to the cost of the holiday  ;D

Make someone else go first & trigger the camera, but don't be last, racing to keep up. That's my genius plan.

You can tell I'm fun to go on holiday with... :-X

Yeah, three of us were in France last year. Fearing fines we agreed to stick to the speed limits, which we more or less did. The three of us were in tight formation in a town, one of us got an unexpected speeding ticket through the post, only a few kph over. It was the rider in front, if you're debating strategy for your own ride grouping :)

Tell me about it, I lead a few trips, I got one in Luxembourg a couple of years ago doing about 3Kph over the limit and two in France last year. I might get someone else to lead this year  :o ;D

Martin is the man to speak too about speeding in Europe he paid, mine was even quicker which required a court appearance and I’ve never been back but they did write to say I was banned for 3 months...as the policewoman said to me ‘Vee know you Brits only fear points on your license’

If I lead you won't get any fines, but you won't get to the next hotel either. Tricky trade-off. ;D
