well, the new sensors arrived, along with a sub-tenner GM wakeup tool, I had to upgrade motoscan to the top tier in order to open the "learn new sensors" dialogue, but other than that I was able to introduce the sensors to the bike in around 5 mins start to finish! (I didnt want to fit them and then find the batteries were dud)
so yesterday I toddled off to my local tyre fitter and a short while later was able to test them out.
the rear showed within a 100m or so , the front took a mile before it decided to play (front was always slow to register so suspect its not a problem with the new sensors)
so for less than the cost of one sensor its all working again, and I have a spare front sensor (only able to buy as a pair for £23, rear was around £14)
so far I am claiming it a success !  :winkthumbs:

Lots of folks have used the disgustingly cheap sensors off ebay etc with no problems. It isn't as if these are specific to the K, or even to bikes. The world and his dog needs them and so the Chinese copyshops onliged :)
already ordered along with a wake up tool, will keep everyone apprised of the results when it finally arrives

Should you ever decide to fix them, this PDF from UKGSer site looks like a good guide:
https://www.ukgser.com/technical/nick/Replacement%20of%20RDC%20sensor%20batteries%20(All%20BMW%20models%20equipped%20with%20RDC)%20V1.1.pdf
got that thanks, tried the battery reset at the bottom today, no joy, may take off the wheels and get the tyres pulled and have a go, lack of work space is the issue unfortunately, not sure if I can shift enough stuff to get around the bike to remove the wheels.

This thread suggests the 911 does not read battery state.
the thread suggests the state OK/not OK can be seen, personally I would be amazed if the batteries were good after all this time, but with almost new tyres on and the need to take the wheels off and make 2 trips to the tyre guy in order to get to the TPMS sensors, I am not enamoured of the idea of keeping the system active, if I needed new tyres and could source sensors at less than £140 a piece, then maybe....

I have no idea whether the GS is accurate for tpms battery condition but if they are the original batteries then at about 12 years old I would be amazed if they are still within spec.

It would be interesting to just disconnect the unit which is what it is like if you don't have an alarm and/or TPMS.

As far as I know there are just the two types, the large, clunky looking one which is just TPMS and the slinkier one with a speaker moulding on the top which is the combined Alarm and TPMS unit. Anyone will fit any bike and 'may' need coding in, mine didn't. Someone recently claimed their dealer said there were three types but Costas says that is a load of rowlocks and I know who I believe.

Have you phoned Motorworks, their site is a little agricultural. Also try James Sherlock.
thanks Brian, you have answered one question I now know what the TPMS looks like !  will give Sherlocks a call, my tech has got the resistor cap so I can try disconnecting the unit and see what happens (he has never had a fault with one of these that hasnt been the sensors hence the confusion)

Hi everyone, strange one for you, I lost the reading from the front TPMS at the beginning of winter, then after a long hibernation, I fired up the bike last week to get it MOTd, now the rear sensor isnt giving a reading.
after around 20 minutes of ride time the yellow master caution triangle comes on and the display switches to pressure with both readings flashing ----
bugger! I initially considered it was dead batteries, however my local tech put his GS911 onto the bike and both sensor batteries show OK?
so... a couple of questions, is the alarm unit under the seat also the RDC control? searches would suggest so, however its hard to get a definitive answer from the net,
can I just disconnect the alarm/RDC fit a 120 ohm resistor plug into the loom and forget it ? or do I need to delete the module from the bike software?
can I just replace the unit with one from another bike ? (easier said than done as currently motorworks dont even list scross the frame fours in their second hand parts list!
no current codes showing, although it is logging faults, but says this will not bring on yellow master caution?
faults would suggest poor reception/interference
any ideas ?

Drywall? as opposed to wetwall? or is that plasterboard?
call it what you will, it has a sodding great hole in it the height of a K1200GT rack  :P

I have a K1200GT and unless they changed the position of the stand on the 13 I have no idea what the fuss is about? step on the stand and push back with the left handlebar and the LH grab rail, there should be no lifting involved.
PS the Pan is heavier  :P
However, getting it on the stand with full luggage and top box is a completely different kettle of fish. Use the side stand in this instance.
Nope, thats what I was talking about, I really can't see the problem ? mine is also stored in a very tight space in the garage (so tight that there is a hole in the drywall where I have misjudged it in the past, always on the centrestand as there isn't room to put it on the sidestand . )

wish I could help but on my old clutch it was the plates either end of the pack that were worn and I'm guessing the one you need is one of those? could you not have reassembled the clutch using the old end plate but new intermediates ? you could contact barnett or see if it is possible to get whatever shim that was fitted to the older clutch that didn't require the larger first plate ?
mine seemed to go in with no problems so presumably is a newr version? how old is yours? is there any chance you can return it as unfit for purpose?

is it possible that you left one of the original steel plates in situ? the Barnett clutch should have exactly what you need no extras. count the old plates and tell us how many you have

I think an impact wrench might be in order  ???
Yes, but how much would that be? I don't have a pressurised air system, and I don't know if an electric impact wrench would work. I saw a few for sale, and they cost close to £200. I was hoping I could do this cheaper with some hand tools, like the Spanish guy in the videos...
run down to your local Lidl and see if they have any left or can order one https://trendtravel.info/travel-video/BgNnWQP0_hA/parkside-lidl-electric-impact-wrench-450-c3

A reasonable run through for anyone thinking of having a go, and bonus! its not in Spanish! although if required I can supply a link to one "en Espaniol"  :P

I think going out in the dark is vastly under-rated. No eejits, no Sunday drivers (even on a Sunday) and you can ride without bothering to comb yer hair... 8)

Loads of deer though. The damn things are becoming a real nuisance.
I'm doing my best, but I can only shoot them so fast, and I'm not in your area  :P
