For Sale: 2015 K1300S Motorsport

The story of my bike started 25th March 2015 when it left the BMW Motorrad Distribution Centre in Thorne. Eight months later it found its way down to BMW Bahnstormer Thames Valley with an agreeable 1,917 miles on it. That's where and when I bought it as the second owner after a BMW employee had managed those ~2,000 miles.

Between then and now I have brought the total to ~35,600 miles through commuting and exploring. It's lived in my garage every night and in the underground car park at work during the day.

History:
  • It had its first service at Lloyd Motorrad Carlisle at 809 miles
  • Thereafter it saw BMW Bahnstormer Thames Valley roughly every six- nine months
  • It's had the Used-Approved warranty followed by the BMW Insured Warranty for its entire life
  • MOT expires 24th April

Standard Stuff
  • Obviously as the Motorsport it has the ESA, ASC, shift assist, adjustable rearsets and the akra exhaust (I have the baffle). Oh yes and the fancy forged wheels.

Add-ons:
  • Correctly-keyed Sports Panniers and rails
  • Ilmberger hugger
  • Smoked front and rear indicator lenses (I probably have the originals still)
  • LED dipped beam (plug and play)
  • Techspec Gripster tank grips - I picked these as they are able to be removed without crying, but they're also quite useful in my opinion

Also this:
  • I've got a rather loud (ask Brian... or Rae... or Rich!) SC-Project exhaust that I can bung in for probably hardly anything.
  • I've got a mount (slight crack on some plastic part of it for the last 3 years) and the TomTom Nav Rider 400 Premium (lifetime maps I think) with a bunch of plastic bits and bobs - £120. Otherwise I can remove it no problem.
  • A lovely red Sandbar Composites paddock stand that can go for £50

Work:
  • Rear drive was replaced under warranty after suffering from corrosion. The replacement has had no trouble
  • New tyres Angel GT2 fitted September last year, about 1,000 miles on them
  • New front and rear OEM pads fitted at the end of last year
  • New front wheel bearing at ~29k miles
  • The MOT advisory of April 2018 for steering linkage ball joints resulted in a replacement of the front suspension under warranty a week or two after

£6,500

Some pretty pictures

Actually at the back of this photo, but anyway:

Congrats on your new bike there Philip.

Thanks Tom, looking forward to seeing what difference there is to my older one.

Collecting it from Matt in a week, but the weather at the moment isn't very encouraging for 2 wheels.

I'll have to see nearer the time if I can make the wrinklies trip Rae, but i'll certainly be there if I can.

Are you going to transfer the raised bars and centre stand onto the new one?

I'm going to compare the two side by side to see what the difference is, but suspect I will change over the yolks & bars again.
It wasn't too much of a job last time, depends if the steering lock bolts come out just as easy as my one.

Will probably swap over the stand, being careful not to take out my eye with the spring.

You know the trick by placing washers or coins between the coils in the stand springs to get them off without losing an eye.

Believe it or not using a ratchet strap, like it says in the instructions, actually worked for me when I fitted my centre stand.

Here is a thread about the centre stand spring. The washer / penny method has never worked for me.

That's brilliant, I think 2p's might do the job.

Christine has been saving up her change for the Grandchildrens piggy banks.

I've purloined her bag of 50 2p's.

I will replace it with a pound coin, promise.
