UPDATE ON: K1300S Motorsport - The Transformation
« on: April 06, 2022, 01:15:42 pm »
Dear everyone!

This post is an update on my latest post: 'K1300S Motorsport - The Transformation'.

As some of you might remember, i left this thread saying, that i would have to wait until i became of age to get my licence, and that i still needed to get my riding gear etc.

This is naturally where i will pick up.

Back in february 2022, in sub-zero conditions, i began on my A licence, for the K1300.

It was great feeling what is was like to ride on the street, it was i bit nippy outside though. Good the learners bikes had heated grips(NOT).

As i took my licence, i started picking out the gear i wanted and needed, and i went with the following:

Jacket: Halvarssons Mora
Pants: Halvarssons Malung
Gloves: Halvarssons Ljusdal
Boots: Daytona Road Star GTX (Used)
Helmet: Schuberth C4 Pro Carbon
Airbag: Helite Turtle 2.

All through february and march i had riding lessons and was finally able to go to my test on 21 March 2022, and i got the license!

I am overall very happy with the gear i got, and if any of you are wondering what its like, i would be happy to provide a review of my gear.

I am now a very happy boy, on a very happy bike, and i will attach a few photos for all of you to enjoy!  ;D

I got the licence:

First fuel-up on Shell V-Power of course:

First evening ride with heated grips on:

First longer ride(200 km with break after 100 km):

The garage i managed to find in the centre of the city where i live with other fellow riders:
Yours sincerely

Hey congratulations Frederik! Glad you've finally got to ride the cleanest K in the world I think :D.

I'm a Halvarssons wearer too so I should say good choice :). Well done on starting off with the Daytona boots! I've been oggling and umming and arring about them (or rather their price) for the last 10 years and several other pairs of boots!

How's law school going?

Excellent write-up, great photos and of course - Congratulations!

How do you find the Helite, in terms of bulk, weight, comfort, etc?
I keep thinking my next set of leathers should have an airbag - the question is inside or outside...

Excellent Frederik, you'll have to watch your licence with a K13 there. I was in Denmark for work last week (Kalundborg and near Frederikssund) and even in a slow hire car I was lucky not to get flashed twice. Not a place for sportsbikes.

Congratulations and well done on both passing your test and on the condition of the bike. I hope you both have many happy miles together.

Hey Matt! Thanks! - Yes, i might have to do a bit more cleaning before that, but it's pretty close i think! The halvarssons gear is really excellent, and nice to see a brand being able to compete with Rukka. The daytona boots are really superb, i do not regret the purchase, and I highly recommend checking out the 2nd hand market for daytona boots - great deals to be made there.

Thanks Costas! - that is what i was hoping for as well.

Richtea! Thank you! The Helite is amazing to ride with. Bulk and weight is good, and i dont even notice wearing the vest when i am out riding. The ventilation in my jacket is not hindered because of the relative loose fit of the vest over the chest/back. I would opt for an outside airbag, as the Helite has the biggest air volume of them all. This video is great for learning more about airbag vests: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2jZryt607U .

Armstrongracer, i agree, you have to be careful here in denmark, but to take "the road less travelled by"(Robert Frost) minimize this risk, but mind you still dont want to speed too much here. Just a heads up, the speeding tickets here in Denmark are quite hefty, so i would start putting a bit aside already for when the tickets arrive. The ticket for going 2 km/h over the speed limit in town(50 km/h zones) is around 100 Pounds..

Yours sincerely

Hi Matt!

We Are doing Well, thank you! - still spotless, more or less. ;)

I have, however, put it for sale.. - i know..!

Last summer, i took my fathers r1100rt to the alps, and just completely fell in love with an old girl like the r1100rt.

I saw no other option, than to buy an r1100rt, and i am now in the process of finding the right buyer for the k1300.

That reminds me, i should start a post about the RT!

How Are you doing?
Yours sincerely

I've borrowed a few boxer GSs, including a 1250. Can't dispute they went well, but to me it was like riding a diesel after the 4 cylinder K. I'm not keen on the boxer characteristics but appreciate they are great engines for those that are.
