K1300 instrument disassembly
« on: July 07, 2020, 10:59:23 am »
Hi,

I've brought a uk spec K1300s over to Ireland and want a Kmh speedo. Instrument clusters are readily available on German ebay for reasonable prices. Does anyone know if its possible to remove and replace just the speedo without butchering the whole assembly.  I want to keep the original LCD part on my bike.

NOOOOOOOO!!!
You can change it in the firmware config.

If someone in ROI has a GS911, or a capable dongle+Motoscan app, I'm surely they'll be happy to help you.

Isn't it marked with both MPH and KPH?

I've the Motoscan app and dongle. If you're down Cork way I'll be glad to reset it for you.

Alternatively, If you want to meet somewhere during a spin, I can do it.  It may take a bit more organising, but is do-able.  Say, Waterford or New Ross (I want to go over that new bridge).

Unfortunately I can't send it to you as the app is on my phone and is licenced to my account.

There is a guy in Donegal with a GS911.

Yes but I want the KPH legible, its too small to check with a quick glance.  Ireland is getting like North Wales, speeding is nothing to do with safety, its a revenue stream pure and simple.

When I ride on the continent it is never a problem. But then again, I always have my sat nag on and that is even clearer.

An alternative is to put some strips of black vinyl on the glass at the main limits. It always worked for me abroad before the advent of sat nag.

Short answer the dealer can change it over no problem.

The long answer...I’m in Vines in 07,bloke walks through the door with a foreign accent(he was Czech) he’d parked a 17 ton  lorry outside, finds the salesman and wanders around the showroom pointing at bikes,i’ll Have this and that and the Sales Guy is thinking HTF is he going to pay for this lot....,because he considered prices too be so low because of the Sterling crash never even attempted to negotiate....

Got the salesman to run him to the local bank and he came out with 60 grand in a bag.... they changed all the bikes to KPH as a freebie  ;D

Yup, agreed. I've done this on Italian KPH stuff. It's a good fix for analogue.

No idea, I saw it on the members map here.  Anyone with a red location has a GS911, anyone with a yellow has a Motoscan

Actually they were between a rock and a hard place because as they said ‘Think of all the servicing were not going to get’
