Well, Peeps there will be no report on this trip as the trip didn't happen. It started OK, Glen came over to me and we set off for Folkestone all was going well until we got to Huntingdon to get petrol. A car stopped suddenly in front of me, I stopped, Glen unfortunately did not and ran into the back of me. Right exhaust was ripped off both panniers scratched nose cone cracked rear light surround cracked left mirror damaged. Given the age of the bike it'll be a write off.

On the bright side I have found a 2015 Red FJR one owner full service in mint condition. I'm going to see it on Wednesday.
It would be nice to have a red one again.

Owwww. Owww, and oww again. That is very disappointing.
I'm glad you're all OK, though.

Good luck with the red one - the fastest colour, as they say.

Damn. Glad you're OK though!

This will hopefully stick in my head and reaffirm my habit of keeping 8 miles away from the leader! Get well soon to all bikes and bodies.

I'm sorry to hear your news but glad no one is hurt. I hope the red bike is what you want.
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

Two bits of advice I always give to my Associates when they first go on our IAM group rides:
- the greatest hazard is literally right in front of you for the entire ride
- the 2 second rule still applies

Both are very easy to forget on a fast flowing ride, and I'm as guilty as any.

Having recently had a trip to the tarmac on our XR I sympathise takes some getting over,no panniers but a fully loaded 50l and tankbag helped,oh and locals on the way to work who helped us pick bike up outside of Portsmouth docks.

Hey Zeus!

WTF is going on peeps? I know it is early in the season and we are all a little rusty (as last week in Wales showed only too well  ::) ) but two in one week...

Really glad you are all OK and I am sure you were ready for a new bike anyway Rae but I imagine Glen is feeling as bad as it gets.

The black FJR was running really well with 70,000 miles on her and would have gone on for another 150.000 but hey ho if the dealer still has the bike it will be nice to have the rare red one again.

Glen couldn't apologise enough but I told him it's only metal and plastic as long as we are both OK and still mates all is well.
