Greater London ULEZ
« on: October 18, 2021, 12:51:25 pm »
ISTR looking up my car and bike for the original ULEZ and finding my 2009 K13scomplient but my 2006 Nissan Note SVE not.
Just checked for the new ULEZ zone and find the car is compliant and the bike isn't which for me is a bummer as I was intending to go the Greenwich to do some Genealogy research.

Are required to have a Euro 4, 5 or 6 Standard engine. To achieve this standard, an engine has to produce less than 0.50g/km per km of CO2.
Are usually registered after January 2006.
Why your vehicle is not compliant:
Its not always the destination that counts its the ride, having a destination just stops you going round in circles.

If you're bike is not listed as compliant then I think you can get BMW to send you confirmation it does fit the requirements which can be assed on to TfL and allow your bike access.
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

Mine says compliant - the bike is a K1300S, 2015.
The same machine, different reg date.

Maybe a few more members can check and see if it's just date-driven.

Just retried and low and behold it is compliant. But tell me only for ULEZ but will have to pay congestion charge. But motorcycles are free aren't they?
Do I really want to trust this site with this differing info?

That's the formal 'Transport for London' site, so it's the original source.

Says my 1250gs is free of both charges. Sent that screenshot to my mate who just finally swapped out a diesel for a petroleum car to avoid the ULEZ! Although he has to arrive at churches and places. And doesn't have a bike licence. Or a desire to.

So yeah. It's a gov run thing so... outsourced based on whoever is charging the most and delivering the least (I say from management consulting world).

2006 K1200R and ULEZ compliant.  Been riding into central London and not been fined/charged/reamed, so that works for me.

My 2007 K1200S shows as exempt from ULEZ but need to pay the congestion charge. It might be something to do with the small green car icon above the "Your vehicle" after entering plate number (database error).

Further in to the TFL website, motorcycles are clearly exempt:

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/discounts-and-exemptions

"Exemptions
You don't have to pay the Congestion Charge or register with us if the vehicle is recorded at the DVLA in one of these categories:

Two-wheeled motorbikes (and sidecars) and mopeds

I read on another website that motorcycle were considered at one time but ruled as not having a front number plate.

Does that mean that ULEZ cameras check the rear?

Does anyone have a motorcycle icon above "Your vehicle"?
