Rich, I just searched for a foaming coil cleaner.
Your second link seems to fit the bill.
Let us know how you get on  :thumbsupgood:

The stuff I ordered is due to arrive tomorrow, so if it arrives in time I'll do it tomorrow if not it'll be Saturday.

A quick update, the foaming coil cleaner arrived in double quick time so I gave the radiator a squirt.

from the front

from the rear

It seemed to have worked well, I will give it a proper shake down run tomorrow but judging by the time it took for the fans to kick in on tick over in the garage I'd say it worked.

When I was rinsing the foam off, the jet of water was passing straight through, even in the bottom corners which are always the worst.

A word of caution: make sure you wear gloves and long sleeves and eye/face protection and have a bucket of cold water near by in case you get splashed.

I'll report back after the shake down run.

Shake down run completed and I think I will call it a success, the average running temperature has been reduce between 5 and 10 degrees. I cannot believe it has taken us so long to find this stuff.

Glad to hear it's had a measuarable positive effect, Rae.

I think it's still relatively rare stuff in the UK. The US has aircon all over the place, and they seem to have a far greater choice.
Maybe you should go into business and supply folk?

I probably won't be able to clean mine until next weekend now, but I'll try and remember to do a 'before' and 'after' pic or two.

Before I applied the coil cleaner I brushed off the radiator with a stiff nylon brush to dislodge the loose dirt. I only used about 200ml of the litre bottle so I have some left.

If you could Rich it would be nice to time from fan on to fan off at tick-over, before and after cleaning. Ideally there would be a measurable reduction in the time to fan off after cleaning.

I always spray my radiator with TFR each time i wash the bike then blast it with the jet wash. Have always done this with my bikes as i thought it was the done thing thinking all the crap off the road gets thrown at your rad from the front tyre.

That foaming stuff looks like its doing a good job though  :thumbsupgood:

Hello guys, I used this stuff today to clean the rad.  Stripped off the grill and fan and proceeded to dose it up with the foam, it worked as it should.  I rinsed it out from the back and you could see the muck being flushed through. I have a wand with 90 degree holes at the end to flush it wit and I noticed a restricted flow in the centre of the rad from 50mm up to about 75mm this is where I have removed the stone guard, it wasn't great but you could see the difference so I treated that area again  and it cleared it.
It would be better off the bike. but it worked pretty good.

Best regards  Mick
