Carbon bits....are they worth it

Currently watching some carbon bits on eBay for 'reasonable ' prices. But.....are they worth it ,..no performance advantages, but the chance to make your machine unique , sort of

It's down to personal taste so the choice is yours.

Mostly no.

For:
- looks
- teeny tiny weight loss. Going on a diet for two months would give better results.

Against:
- price

Here's what I have:
Carbon Akro - pretty but pointless. It's just an exhaust (unless you want to remove the baffle)
Carbon exhaust cover - pretty but pointless.
Carbon yoke protector - yes, but it's carbon looky-likey to hide the key fob scratches
Carbon front mudguard - definitely worth it to fit a fender extender that doesn't chirp against the tyre.

A fellow, was selling 2 of the main panels for £300 (For the pair)...no one went for them which I suppose is quite telling in that of itself.

Tried a cheeky bid but no joy. Another, because I could sort of purchases really  if it came off....

£300 is probably cheaper than OEM replacements, so the price wouldn't come into it!
You could probably sell your existing ones and break even - esp if they're Motorsport ones. :-)

EDIT: ah, 1200 not 1300 - maybe the panels are a bit less for 1200s, so ignore that.

Having spent more(a lot) than most on carbon with 6 bikes on the go I think 300 quid is way too salty.

Of course they are, don't you want your low key KR to stand out from all the others in the carpark ? (Yes I  have a gsa too)

Bmw (akrapivic)  front mudguard/hugger and seat cover/belly pan. I couldn't see the benefit of the exhaust protector although I do have decatted carbon can without baffle.

The yoke cover does cover up the scratches, £20 from US.

Apparently Santa was good to me and a pair of HP rear sets are on their way, bargain at £520 and carbon heel protectors.

On a slightly more serious note, have you priced how much standard bits are ?

Contact him/her on the Message service,they’ll never sell e’m in a million years at that kind of money but got to be worth 200ish.

Blimey that’s a good offer i’d Let him stew on that for more than a couple of days.

They weren't going after he relisted them again. So with 22hrs to go tried 250 again (he'd taken off the postage charge  ) needless to say they're on their way up here now.
