I believe it's just the rear and it's for the big fatty boom boom bikes like ours.  Someone like Bribri probably knows the number of extra metal bands :D.

I think the GT has stiffer side walls to accomodate the heavier bike.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

BriBri gives in MattyWatty!

I've got the standard PR4's front and rear and can't see either end wanting anything other than but then I am a sylph-like shadow of my former self and don't do pillions  8)

Unless you have an enormous arse or a pillion who has one...hell of a penchant for the wares of one Christian Laboutin, then the standard tyre should be perfick!

I went from the regular PR4 to the GT first the front and then the rear before going to the Alps,
I reckon I made a very good choice. Bike feels better but then all new tyres are better.
In my view the GT is worth the small extra charge.
Its not always the destination that counts its the ride, having a destination just stops you going round in circles.

I didn't think my arse was that big but I found that unless I put in a few extra psi in the standard tyres they would move in a  very unnerving way as the limit was approached. No such issues with the GT.
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

After some personal experimentation now prefer the heavy duty types either they called GT, SWM or else. They are always better to accommodate a bigger arse if needed and they last longer.

After talking to a tyre specialist, a Mr Tony Salt from TST tyres, this man has worked with Honda and others for 40 years plus, he was telling me the PR4 GT are for bikes with a weight of 245Kg upwards stating that the FJ is the ideal starting point, anything lighter use the standard PR4.

Slight aside from Michelin, but it's the same for Pirelli Angel GT - use the heavier duty 'A' version for K bikes:

rear: 190/55 ZR 17 M/C (75W) TL (A)

I have ordinary Pilot Road 4s on the FJR and have just been to France with Melanie and all of the associated luggage and the tyres were fine and performed faultlessly as did the bike.

Umm think it was when i didnt sell my k as instructed. i think. For some reason still here. On a vaguely related to topic subject, on close examination as i washed the bike today, those roadtec 01s are basically worn out after 5000 miles. Less than impressed.
