Wrinklies Chasing The Sun 6, 7th-9th September 2020
« on: July 11, 2020, 09:17:21 am »
Hello peeps, here are the rearranged details for the Wrinklies Chasing The Sun 6 trip.
All the information you need is here in post #1

As before we start in Wheyrigg Cumbria, stop over this time in Derby and carry on to Worthing.
Here is a map link to Wheyrigg Hall Click Here

I have stayed at Wheyrigg Hall a few times, it’s very friendly with good food (chips that have never seen a freezer) and good beer. It’s in a remote location but has everything you need.

The nearest garages to Wheyrigg Hall are 3 and 4.5 miles away, map links below

I have aligned the routes so that Tomtom and Garmin should follow the same route. Set your device to avoid motorways.

I think the routes are pretty much finalised so feel free to download and take a look. To be on the safe side in case I make any last minute changes download again closer to the event.

For those of you that use MyRouteApp
https://www.myrouteapp.com/
Search for Rae Sewell and you can download them from there.

The Plan
Monday 7th September 2020 turn up at Wheyrigg Hall (with a full tank of petrol please) any time after 2.00pm when we can meet and greet and eat and drink.

Tuesday 8th
09.00   Set off from Wheyrigg with a full tank you filled earlier.
10.50   Coffee stop at Devils Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale (40 minute stop)
11.30   Set off from Devils Bridge
13.45   Petrol Brighouse (10 minutes)
14.00   Lunch Old Mill (1 hour stop)
15.00   Set off from Old Mill
17.20   Petrol Derby (10 minutes)
17.40   Arrive Premier Inn Derby West.

Merriment and frivolity to follow.   ;D

Wednesday 9th
09.00   Set off from Derby West.
10.50  Long Itch Diner (40 minute stop)
11.30  Set off from Long Itch Diner.
13.05   Petrol (10 minute stop)
14.00  Lunch Old Bell Grazeley Green (1 hour stop).
15.00  Set off from Old Bell.
17.10  Arrive Premier Inn Worthing Seafront

More merriment and frivolity.  ;D
Timings are approximate, obviously  ;)

I have put this thread together fairly hastily so if you spot any mistakes please let me know.

We need to limit this to a group of six so first come first served. Of course I am unable to control other groups that may want to book as this is a public forum, I take no responsibility for other groups.

Update
Face coverings will be mandatory in retail premises so please get yourself some face masks disposable or washable.
I bought some washable ones a weeks or so ago (I saw the writing on the wall  ;)) from Etsy
https://www.etsy.com/uk/search?q=reusable%20face%20mask&ref=auto-1&as_prefix=reu
I got two for £7.98 delivered.

Hand Sanitiser
It's a good idea to carry a travel size (or larger if you prefer) bottle of hand sanitiser in your pocket or tank bag. Ideal for when you top up with fuel to sanitise your hands after handling the pump and paying.
I have carried hand sanitiser for years, mainly to stop my gloves getting smelly. I normally slather it on and get the gloves on quick before it evaporates  :D

Another thing while I'm here, the lunch and coffee stops may change with booking tables now a bit of a thing. I will check with the various places before we get there to make sure they can accommodate us.

Good stuff Rae!
I'm in.

I did the semi-Flex / Flex on the Premeir Inns so, should circumstances change (second wave, local lockdown, etc), I can cancel at no cost up to 1 day / 3 days ahead.

On the Wheyrigg front, they don't take the cash until later (the day?), so that may or may not be cancellable. However, they were good to us last time, so it's not a worry.

And 3 breakfasts of course. And that's just the first day....

All booked.
