East Yorkshire Weekend 19th 20th May 2017
« on: October 19, 2016, 10:40:00 am »
The idea is to stay at the Premier Inn Beverley town centre. Turning up on Friday afternoon ride out on Saturday, stay Saturday night and all depart and go our own ways on Sunday morning.
I have a route of about 150 miles planned taking in some of East Yorkshires finest roads. The route includes coffee and lunch stops.

Date Friday 19th and Saturday 20th May 2017
Premier Inn Click Here

Interested so far are
Rae & Melanie (raesewell) Booked
Mike & Cheryl (Mike W)    Booked
Richard (richtea)              Booked
Graham (Midlife Crisis)
Ant (Bullet) ride only
Andy (Expo) ride only

If anyone else is interested please let me know and I will add you to the list.

All updates will be posted here in post number 1.
The route will look something like This (Click Here)

The first coffee stop will be at Seaways Cafe at Fridaythorpe. This is a well established biking cafe. Just over an hour to this stop and about 45 miles.

Lunch will be at the Rockingham Arms at Towton. About an hour and a half from Seaways 55 miles.

Afternoon coffee stop is a McDonalds just outside Market Weighton junction of A614 and A1079 about 35 miles and 50 minutes from Towton. We may be coffeed out by then so might just carry on, we'll see on the day.

Here is a link to download the route files. As you probably already know, the .itn file is for older Tomtoms and the .gpx files are for Garmins.
The newer Tomtoms can handle both types of file, but I would advise using the .itn file. The NMW in the route file title signifies No Motorways so set your device to avoid motorways.

In the absence of anyone taking up my offer for a ride today I did a reconnaissance ride for the first 100 miles of the route. I thought it looked good on a map but it's even better on the road. On the back of this reconnaissance ride I have shuffled a couple of the stops.
I did it quicker than I thought I would although it will be a bit slower with a group in tow (but not much).

How about a weekend in May, I am proposing Friday 19th May and Saturday 20th May. The Premier Inn in Beverley is a very popular destination and gets full quite quickly. There are other hotels not too far away so there is a back up.
This will give a couple of weeks before the Wrinklies.
What do you think?

With good luck and a following wind we might actually meet this time Graham.
A quick note to anyone interested I suggest you get your booking in as this is a very popular Premier Inn.

Hello Rae,

I had a look on the Premier Inn website (being a tightwad) the Sun+Mon is always a better deal - or does that not work for you?

Flex price
Fri+Sat = £61+£84 = £145
Sun+Sun = £48+£60 =  £108

Or the non-returnable Saver option:
Fri+Sat = £46+£79 = £115
Sun+Sun = £32+£39 = £71

However, I know Sun & Mon may not suit. But just saying...  ;)

(I'll still be happy to do Fri+Sat - you can't put me off that easily...)

Booked, Rae!

If anyone from the beautiful south wants to join me for a ride up on the Friday, we can get lost together.  :D

I'll be going from the Banbury area, and from a swift scan of the map the east side looks like the fun way to go - Grantham, Lincoln-ish, etc.
Bit like a ride to Cadwell Park with a Yorkshire extension - if that's tempting, Brian.
