Today's steed - BMW 1250R
« on: June 28, 2022, 03:22:17 pm »
I can definitively say I'd never buy one of these, even with it's excellent engine and good dynamic suspension.

Check how far the mud goes - all over the pillion seat, up your back, onto your helmet, and then eventually even makes it's way to the pilot's seat.
How do they get away with such poor design? It's not like its a dry days-only posing street fighter or anything.

Had to wash my waterproofs afterwards. Mutter mutter.

The top half of a K stays pretty clean in similar conditions.

Lovely engine though, apart from the over-eager fly-by-wire. It goes on a 1mm movement. For some reason I'd like a teeny tiny bit of slack. Maybe it's just me. The suspension in 'road' mode is just bouncy, but 'dynamic' modesharpens it up nicely.

As ever, there's nothing like getting back on your own beastie. Chunky and slower steering a K1300S may be, but very stable and buttery smooth, with a normal throttle.

It's a shame that proper mudguards have become unfashionable.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

I am afraid that style seems to trump functionality every time these days :(
