Out Today on South Derbyshire Swoopy Roads
« on: January 25, 2016, 06:10:43 pm »
Went to visit talented engineering mate who is concourseing his 1981 Suzuki GS 1000 Shaft (USA import) The stuff he has got for it from all over the globe is surprising. He has spent mega bucks on new switches and brake pipes all original. He told me one part an alloy surround that goes on the cowel on the back of the seat around the rear light housing, one guy in USA selling this and asking 900 dollars for same ! My mate got hold of a used one from Aus for 50 Aus Dollars. Apart from the fact I have not got the engineering skill at all to tackle such a job and I would not have the inclination to source all the bits. The powder coating on the frame done in Burton looks superb as does the rest of it. The core bike is a pearler from a sunny state with little if any sign of corrosion. I had a GS 1000 E back in the day and know how nice that bike was.

Incidentally the bend swooping was done on the Big Burg it was a great ride on dry roads.
