When we arrived in Gap yesterday it was 33 degrees the car park had freshly painted bays so, so as not to leave a divot into freshly painted and hot tarmac I thought I would use my puck under the side stand. When I came out this morning the puck had deformed in the heat and came apart dropping the magnet on the floor. The tarmac however was pristine.

We set off for Roanne in a more pleasant 23 degrees and it hovered between 23 and 25 degrees, the mesh jacket is wonderful  ;D
We are in the centre of Roanne so lots of eateries to choose from.

It's not often I make road recommendations, however, we happened across the D33, we picked it up at Bligny sur Ouch and followed it almost all the way into Dijon. Such a great road beautiful sweeping bends with a few tighter ones but no surprises. For a lot of the way it follows the River Ouch going through quiet beautiful villages and great scenery thrown in to boot. I wished we had got on it sooner. If you ever happen to be in the region, give it a ride, you won't regret it. Here is a map link to where we picked it up.

Sweet ! Next year my bike friend and I are planning the RDGA, so no picture needed : this is spot on on the way between our homes and the beginning of the RDGA (around Geneva and Annecy). Thanks, Rae, I'll remember this recommendation ...

I had to look it up, so to save you a search:

RDGA = Route des Grandes Alpes :
http://www.losapos.com/great_alpine_road

I'm sure there are plenty of other good descriptions out there too, but the pictures look brilliant.

There are lots of moutard shops Jon and a museum which we will be visiting later I think (that's Melanie's department).

We are off again, this time our destination is Epernay, back into the champagne region.
Superb almost empty roads in bright sunshine so far this morning.

So here we are in Epernay the Champagne region of France and Melanie suggested sampling the local hooch but I have warned her that after 4 or 5 pints of Champagne I'm likely to fall over  ;D
