Hello, I`m Ingar from Norway,  winter here now. Not time for MC driving , but maintenance time now.

I just got hand of this old fist issue  k1200rs 1997 with 113 000 km on the clock. 70 000 miles
The 1st owner was BMW Norway for 2 years, the last owner had it for 21 years, and he likes to speak about the bike and tell me what he has done with the bike the last 21 year.  I call him when I need advice about mainenance  and what work, topic ,  I should do next on it.
He told me The engine was replased with new one in 2000, when owner from Norway tested it out on the motorway in Germany and blow up the engine block when driving in 180 km/h , 112 miles/h , the pistonrod came out of the block. Happend at 20 000 km. 12 500 miles.

I got many  manuals with the bike and it look owerall good , that yellow one with racing flag on the fairing , but I has not tested the bike on the road yet after I got it , due to the snow on the roads. But have of course started it.
So I`m looking foreward to the spring time now. It will be exciting to see how it handles and works out.
So long.

Welcome the the forum Inga, although our speciality is the later accross the frame slant K I'm sure you will get helpful suggestions when you need them. The early K's are affectionately known as the Flying Bricks.

Welcome to the forum Inga! I look forward to photos! The older ones seemed to have more exciting colours :).

Hi Inga and welcome to the madhouse that is EuroKClub!

Winter here too but probably not as much winter as Norway. One or two hardy souls out still, risking their pride and joy with all the salt on the roads although not as much salt this year as most.

Stay warm and enjoy the maintenance. Brian
