Continental Tyre - front tyre recall (BMW UK)
« on: March 07, 2015, 12:06:26 pm »
As received in the post today.

Definitely worth double-checking, if you do have a Conti front.
ContiSportAttack 2 K is NOT affected.

BMW Motorrad has been notified by Continental Tyres (Continental Reifen Deutschland GmbH) that in isolated
cases, tyre types listed below and produced in a certain production period (indicated by the DOT number on the side
wall) may be subject to a loss of pressure.

We are writing to you today to notify you that if your motorcycle is currently fitted with one of these tyres identified
below we will replace it.

Please check your vehicle to ascertain whether the front tyre now fitted is one of the following:

Note:
The ContiSportAttack 2 K tyres are not affected by the technical campaign.

If you find that an affected tyre fitted to your motorcycle or if you are still uncertain whether one of these tyres is
Company installed, please act promptly to arrange a visit to the workshop with your authorised BMW Motorrad Centre.

The work involved will take about 45 minutes to complete; needless to say, this measure will be performed free of
charge to you.

If your check establishes that the front tyre fitted to your motorcycle is not one of those listed above, there is no need
for you to take any further action in this matter.

Whilst this work is being carried out, the appointed BMW Motorrad Centre will be pleased to undertake a complimentary
23 point vehicle health check for you.

Allow us to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this measure, which is undertaken in the interests of your
safety.

If the motorcycle is no longer in your possession, please send us the address of the new owner, so that we can send

For your info, the DOT code xxxx-2614 refers to tyres made in the 26th week of 2014 (June 23-29, 2014), so if your Conti front tyre was fitted earlier than that you're definitely OK.
It if was fitted after the end of June (and right up until now), you'll need to check, since a tyre made in June last year may well have sat on a shelf for many months before it was fitted to your bike.
