Title: Led rear light advice.
Post by: Martin-k12 on May 10, 2018, 08:15:36 pm
Hey chaps,
I'm after some advice. I'm looking for a LED rear light for my k1200s seen a few on Ebay with varying prices.
It has to be smoked the darker the better and bright as hell!

Why? Can you see it when you are riding?

Sounds like a sensible idea to me. Could save you from a rear end shunt from the many Colonel Blimps that abound on our roads.  ;)

Its not to save the shunt its so when it happens and they start with their excuses I can say "how the fook did ya miss that"

'Well, because it is smoked' would be my smart arsed reply.

I tried LED rear lights and the original filament bulbs were brighter, or at least looked brighter to me.

bmw do a clear and red one which is bright and i've seen other aftermarket units that look brake bright on normal and are almost garish when actually braking.
I've already got genuine BMW led rear indicators, bright! led bulbs in the front Bright! and replace the headlight bulbs and guess what they're extra bright.
Hence why I asked, think I'll just take my chances and get one.....
Oh and the oberon bar end indicators are something else  8)

Never heard of them - but I have now! Pic here:

Not sure why I need them. I quite like the integral mirror ones. They're already tidier than any other indicators I've ever had.
Unless you ride without mirrors?

I've not got them on this bike, just an honorable mention due to how bright and awesome they are.
I like the mirror indicators on my k12 just put some smoked lenses and a pair of amber led bulds which works well.
