Bridgestone T30 Tyres
« on: January 06, 2016, 10:31:05 am »
Its new tyre time again

I have not been unhappy with my PR3s, but always looking for improvements, I am hearing good things about Bridgestone T30s & They come up as a recommended tyre for the K1200GT on the Bridgestone web site

Has anyone tried these?

I have them on my K13S much better than the OEM Metzlers always feel planted, I have 10000Km on the front and 8500Km on the rear both still have plenty of life left in them. The OEM's were finished at 10000Km. My son ran them on a ER6F he was also very pleased with them both from mileage and performance.

I put a pair on my 13GT back in 2013, nothing to report really, they were ok, lasted 5000 miles which was average but personally if you are ok with PR3's I wouldnt bother. I went back to PR2's in the end, lasted longer than anything else and more grip than I could test. Bridgestone have been playing catch-up for years and still dont think they can hold a candle to Dunlop or Michelin.

Angel GT's for me, fitted last October, so still waiting for some decent dry weather, but no problems in this crappy wet weather.

I switched to the T30 from the 023's and found the steering to be noticeably quicker and more "sporty".

I haven't tried the PR3 or 4 but the handling on the 2 made you feel invincible in the wet. I didn't like the rapid feel on turn in though and felt it a bit too rapid for 285kg plus passenger and luggage, so switched back to Bridgestone.

T30's are ok though, but I never get more than 4000 miles from a rear or 5500 from a front.

What tyres are you contrasting them with Dave? Those pesky round black things are a very personal taste so we need to know the benchmark.

Brian (who discovered exactly what the ABS assisted stopping distance is in the shite yesterday and can't stop kissing his PR3's  :o )

PS Before you ask, it was a truck throwing a 180 with no indications, lurching from my nearside lane of an urban dual through a gap in the Armco. I was considering my options right up to the point where the bike stopped with 10 metres to spare. The car that slithered to a halt beside me(!?!) obviously thought he could get through the rapidly diminishing gap cos he was way above the 40 limit, unlike me! Cue saintly sound of harps and wondering if I had time to ring Tim before the bang!

New here but my thoughts

T30 - I have used them on track (four times) at donnington and also on a cbr600, they were great and get hot really quickly. They do however lack a little 'feel'. they must be quite a hard compound. In the wet they were good, better than most tyres out there. I haven't used them on anything bigger than a 650 though but they made the bike much more flickable.

I have just put PR4 on my K1200 s (and spring ST 955i) and they are epic, I can ride just as well in the wet as i can with a set of cheaper tyres in the dry. Dry use is also ace, knee down all the way on the sprint. I have only had them on the K1200 for 200 miles so difficult to be sure but riding in these monsoons we have been having they are worth the cost without doubt.

Started on PR3s, loved them as they were significantly better than anything I'd had before on other bikes, had to go to PR4s next as could not find PR3s and found them good but not as good as the PR3s (they have performed faultlessly during the wet weather we've been having but don't have the same glued to the road feel) and will be fitting a new set of PR3s on Friday.
