One thing I forgot to mention, while we were in Mons with all the bikes parked on the street, Richie left his key in the bike overnight.
The bike was still there, nobody touched it, nobody pinched it. It was a Triumph Tiger and I know you can make jokes about it but jokes aside, as I have said many times before, the only person interested in your bike is you.
So all you overprotective types out there, take note  ;D

And all those over-protective folks who have had their bikes nicked will be saying 'that's nice to know'.

And what percentage of British bike going abroad do you think are stolen or tampered with?

And another thing I forgot to mention, I had a letter from the nice Luxembourg Police yesterday and apparently I was speeding (I don't believe it) doing 95 k/ph in a 90 k/ph, speed used 92k/ph (whatever that means) and it was a bargain at €49 and no points obviously.
So I paid up immediately as I would like to go back sometime.

... doing 95 k/ph in a 90 k/ph, speed used 92k/ph (whatever that means) and ...

Will most probably mean that they measured 95 km/h but compensated for measurement errors and so retained 92 km/h (which is also the speed used to calculate the "price"). In Belgium, below 100 km/h, the compensation is 6 km/h, above 100 km/h, it's 6 percent. Apparently in Luxemburg, they only compensate 3 km/h (or 3 percent). Isn't the way of calculating speed (and compensating for measurement errors) in the UK a little similar ?
There are I0 kinds of people : those who can count in binary, and those who can't...

Er, in a word, NO!

Nicked for doing 47 in a 40 and 47 it is. Or was in my case many years ago now.

We have an 'allowance' of variously 10% of the limit plus something or other, below which there is no penalty but anything above and you get the full whack. The fine depends entirely on whether you roll over and accept the (effectively) on-the-spot fine or insist on having your day in court.

It all adds up to the same thing, more money for driving totally safety while the berk on the bike behind is rolling a joint and trying to do up his bootlaces but that is OK cos it is only speed that kills  >:(
