Wanted K1200S tyre pressure sensor
« on: February 27, 2015, 12:24:14 am »
I now have a spare rear wheel for my bike and need a tyre pressure sensor.

Bit of a long shot but does anyone have one lying about that they would like to get rid off?

As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Has anyone ever had to replace a tyre pressure sensor?

I think(!?) after fitting a new one it has to be calibrated by a BMW dealer

I think you may be right Dave, I think I heard that somewhere. Not a problem I have, not having the pressure sensors, the Nippy Norman foot pump comes with a digital gauge.

You ride with your foot pump connected Rae; maximum respect mate  :D

The really big plus with a TPMS is the advance warning of low/high pressure/temperature, long before the issue becomes a really big problem.

Brian (who can't use the TyrePal to set the pressures because he has to remove the sensor to fit the pump/gauge  ::) )

Having the original TPS found that most of the times its usually a cause for worries and when a nail, spike or bolt visits my tire its too late and warning does nothing to help me there.
I never needed TPS to remind me that on regular basis and every time I'm off for a long ride need to check my tires.
IMHO best after market TPS are made by Steelmate.

Not having TPS, and being very pro-apps & smartphones, I put an order in for these back in November:

I've not ordered T-pieces - ugly.

I'll let you know how I get on, whenever they turn up (end of March).

I hope you have checked out the clearances Rich. My TyrePal sensors are 19mm dia and 19mm tall and on the front they ONLY just clear the calipers, it was touch and go when I got them.

Brian (who had bought them on sale or return if they didn't clear the calipers)

Not yet, but I will when they turn up. Thanks for the warning, Brian.

The dealers have to "pair" them to the bike. The system can take 4 monitors so you can have 2 sets of wheels "paired" to the bike.

There's a vid somewhere, youtube I think of a guy who took one apart and replaced the coincell battery and resealed it all with a hot glue gun.

I have a K12S 6" wheel in the garage that I got to put on my GT sometime, to try a 190 tyre instead of the GT's 180

I have the latest GS911-WIFI and expected to be able to learn my second rear wheel sensor to the bike.

Unfortunately I have not been successful and hope that the GS911 people HEX will be able to tell me how it can be done. From what I can make out, I require a TPMS wake up tool. In a way I feel that I have been sold this device under false pretences.
