Matt's Cat Debacle
« on: December 09, 2024, 11:25:37 am »
Matt, I suppose that it's not particularly useful to know, however our two - year old Bengal suddenly began to suffer exactly those symptoms earlier in the year. Much investigation and a substantial vets bill later (could probably have bought another bike for that money) a swollen pancreas was found through an ultrasound examination and medication administered. two days later, the cat was back to normal with so far, no recurrence.

The vet(s) - it took two to find the problem said that this was a rare but not unheard of problem, that probably resulted from ingesting something unsuitable.

As I said, maybe of no value but it just might help!

Ah thanks! Yeah I was just in getting more drugs and a checkup and a big bill. The vet did mention something about them being complicated bits of kit, these cat things. That if they got a small intestine irritation it could then make their liver do funky things and their (I think she said) pancreas too.

This whole ordeal happened last summer whilst I was down in the Balkans and like you, I spent a motorcycle amount of money on a million tests and a feeding tube to end in no answers.

She's started to eat a little over the last 18 hours or so, and I'm hoping that we're almost through.

Well just to close this out, until next time:

The last visit to the vet and 70 quid more of drugs that mostly end up on the floor. Then for whatever magical reason she started eating more and I started being able to crush the tablets and hide them in her wet food. Things just improved from there. No more drugs, some not even used, but she's back to normal and I've transitioned her to the fricking GI food which apparently is for cats with whatever cats call IBS. Miaow-miaow maybe. Just in case, the vet said.

I should keep a spreadsheet for cat costs as she's zoomed past probably the accumulated cost of keeping the last...3 bikes over ten years or so. And she can't even carry panniers.

Glad to hear the beast of burden (money-wise) is getting better.

Cat panniers, you say?
Only AI would be stupid enough to have more than 2 panniers:

Oh, hang on - what are those black things at the front?

Knee warmers?

The cylinder heads keep your feet so warm that your knees feel cold by comparison... ;D

It's just a 2 wheel SUV. But rather than a Chelsea tractor, it's more a Ragley TractorTM.

Miaow!

And with that, back to the cat.
