After September '25 would be good to avoid any clash with next years Old Gits trip. :D

It's a major Europe-wide IT project and folks expect it to run to time and budget?

My daughter travels to Belgium every month (she is there now, in fact) and tells me that the fingerprint and facial recognition part of this process has again been delayed indefinitely.

The DVLA will tell them where to send speeding ticket too... https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/ukspain-agreement-on-the-reciprocal-recognition-and-exchange-of-national-driving-licences-and-on-the-exchange-of-information-on-road-safety-related

While no one wants to have to pay a speeding ticket it's the points (or lack of) on the license that's impotrant. I see a fine from Europe like a toll charge for traveling on nice roads in the way I'm happy to ride. :D

I believe Spain is banning open face helmets as if next year and possibly flip up lids

From what I've read, it's definitely not modular "flip front" helmets but there are plans to ban open face/Jet helmets and require the wearing of gloves. I can't find any implementation date for these laws.

The helmet law will be interesting with regards to riders from other EU member countries. (Not us!!!  ;D ) As I understand the EU rules for vehicle components and equipment, including mandatory PPE for bikers, if it's legal in one member state then it can be used legally in any/all other member states. That's why France has the issue with enforcing the requirement for reflective areas on helmets on non-French riders. Adding additional requirements like gloves is easy but making something purchased that is legal in one country illegal in another is a challenge.
