R1100RT RIP
« on: February 15, 2016, 04:17:01 pm »
2000 to 2006. I covered over 50,000 miles on this one. Bought from a relative of a colleague who had imported it from Holland.

One of my favourite past bikes. Ugly, to my eyes, but comfortable, good balance of power and handling. Did a handful of National Rallies. Took us to Holland, Slovenia, Spain and places in between. Finally met its end thanks to  a SMIDSY driving a Landrover. Although I ended up spending a couple of days in hospital I'm sure it would have been a different story on many bikes. The Landy couldn't drive away either! The 1200GT came next.
Slovenia...

The end...

You were lucky and the body of that bike payed some role to it.

Yes, I was.
I remained on the bike throughout. I'm sure that the upright riding position and the way the bike absorbed so much of the impact helped. I now have a surgical plate in my wrist... but I'm still here!
