Title: Saying my hello's
Post by: Martin-k12 on May 08, 2018, 09:44:29 pm
Well I'm the proud owner of a K1200s. its an 06 with 20 thou on the clock.

I'm from the preston area and can normally be found at the local meets.

So far I've done:-
the rear shock (How much fookin work is that !!!) ( oh and the boys at firefox racing big thumbs up )
the cam chain tensioner. (get rid of that rattle hopefully).
corbin seat and smuggler (best Ebay bargain ever £250)
the wheels candy apple red mmmmmmmmmm.
and the whole bike is getting re-painted as i type......(due to being pinched before i even sat on it!)
denali sound bomb .... get out the way biatch !!!!!!!
And got an oberon clutch slave on the way (see if i can sort out the snatchy bite point)..
And lots of other bits and bobs just to make her my baby.

So yo, hello and howdy do, looking forward to posting my pennies worth,

Martin

And, a welcome to you from an ex K owner. There are some decent members on here with vast experience of all things regarding the K bike. Just ask and it will be provided (within reason). Like the sound of the colour scheme especially the wheels. Piccies please.   ;)

Hi Martin and welcome to the madhouse that is EuroKClub.

When you did the camchain tensioner did you do the jumpguard as well?
Title: Re: Saying my hello's
Post by: Martin-k12 on May 09, 2018, 05:18:08 pm
The jump guard was done on the recall (BMW's cheap ass plaster of a fix..) you think they would have given the updated tensioner, but nooo, lets just charge us poor sods £118 for their mistake..... fookers !

I thought the tensioner was (eventually) part of the upgrade seeing as it was the root cause of the chain getting loose in the first place.

My K12's jump guard was done early in the process and I paid to have the tensioner done at the same time; about £70 from memory. Eventually the tensioner was included and BM re-imbursed me for the cost. Long time ago mind.

They do a new style tensioner which has a little oil tank reserve on top of it, bought this one over the counter when I got my service done and if there was a way to get it on recall, I would have, but they definitely wouldn't. Where even going to charge me £35 to fit it.

That was the one they refunded me for. There have only been two types, the shite one and the one that works; taller is how you tell.

Well, seeing as you are in the mood, feel free Rich. Another alternative is get everyone to send you the photos and you can be even more helpful and post the photos.  ;D

Hmm, yes, but there's sometimes a bit more to it, Martin. Depends on the image service, if I remember rightly.
Have a read of those two links above. If you get stuck, just shout.

Are you using a cloud account, if so which one?

Are you using a cloud account, if so which one?

Just a little detail as to why images are a bit tricky:
- you cannot upload an image directly to this forum, for the simple reason that our storage space is very limited. We would be overrun within 3 days!

To be specific, you have to use a cloud based image service, so Google and Imgbb are the obvious candidates. I've also used Flickr successfully. (Most people have stopped using PhotoBucket because they now charge, so avoid them.)

So, upload your pics to Google/Imgbb, and then use the 'Insert Image' button, and paste your URL / link in.

You're not the first (or last) to struggle with images, so give it a spin. See the links earlier in the thread for Google and Imgbb-specific instructions.

I wouldn't use the "Insert Image", in imgbb just copy the embed codes and paste it straight into the post.

Quite right. My mistake.

How often have we seen this Rich, people struggle with image posting and when they find out how to do it, they say, how easy was that why didn't I know to do that before. It's a case of very easy when you know how.
I remember being on holiday and trying to post photos on the site on my mobile phone and pulling my hair out (now you know why I have very little left) until I found out how and I felt like a right numpty for not knowing how. We all live and learn  :)  :-\

And we try again. I've tried both so far but going to stick to google for ease.

Well it works as a link just can't display it in the post......p.s trying again here, and again, and again. posted on other forums using hosting with no problems, this is starting to piss on my chips.

imgbb.com is so much easier and I have provided full instructions. Google do not supply embed codes which is why they don't show up directly in the post.

Martin, I altered your post above and inserted a picture so that you can hit the modify button and see what I have added.
As you can see your link to your photo doesn't show and mine shows up ok. Take a look at the embed codes and you will get the idea, the link of mine is to imgbb.com as you will see.
Got it now the link from imgbb doesn't use the insert image ..... cheers fella

You're welcome Martin, see how easy it is when you know how. I'll tidy up the thread.

Glad ya like em gibbo, its a powder coat so not quite got the surface finish of a paint job but hopefully should be a lot tougher.
The pic gives the colour a brown tinge... it much nicer in real life nice deep red.
Pondering about whether or not to try and flat and polish the wheels (probably just the rims) but having never done it not feeling quite brave enough.

So, here's the $10 question...

Did you remove the wheel bearings and fit new ones or did they leave em in for the bake?

Think yourself lucky. When I had mine done the eejits didn't properly mask off the bearing seating area and when the dealer went to press in the new bearings they had no option but to break away the paint around the edge of the hole. Nice! Not!

He had clear instructions of where to mask up.... the only problem i had was we he done them at first he didn't put the red on thick enough so it had a pinkish tinge, not amused and he was made to sort it !
