Praise or Shame / Re: Praise

If I'm not very much mistaken, I believe that a certain Mr PaulC is organising a distillery trip on his faceache page; don't know if I am speaking out of turn or even if it is open to others, but it is just a thought.

Who's Who? / Re: Hello from Derby

Well, firstly, the old site wasn't hacked. The owner closed the site at midnight on New Year's Eve, or rather didn't re-activate the account with the web host. Despite the best efforts of PaulC who knows Nadeem well, there has been no contact with him and no reason for the closure; as much of a mystery to Paul as to the rest of us.

Despite many efforts, there is no way we can get at the old site content even if we pay the host fees, without the cPanel account name and password, known only to Nadeem.

Hence this brand new, shiny and almost empty site, just waiting for all the juicy stuff to start filling it up again. To reassure one and all that this can't and won't happen again, I shall be taking steps in the coming days to share all relevant contact details, account names and passwords with the rest of the admin and moderator team, so when I shuffle off this mortal coil, the site doesn't gat buried with me.

Secondly, you will find the for sale 'Board', called 'The EuroKClub Trader' in the third 'Category' of 'Boards'. The first category is 'Welcome...', next is 'General Forum....' And lastly is 'Things Bikers Love.....'.

Praise or Shame / Re: Praise your dealer.

Wow! I dread to think what that lot would have cost in UK Costas.

Mine is booked in for the 33,500(?) mile service at North Oxford next month and the bill is £570 to include valve clearance check, MoT test and Loan bike with every concievable fluid being changed, and the price includes a 5% discount for being a vintage model!

My last service was done at 25,000 miles in the very dealer that Costas is praising, in Athens and I can verify that the other Costas is a very thorough chap indeed, really interested in bikes and even more so in the customer.

Brian (who says, if you are ever in Athens, make sure your bike needs a service while you are there  ;D )

Really glad you are here Tom and we might even find some of your old stuff in the web.archive.org

We found Rae's suspension article he has posted up in here already!

Suggestions! / Re: Location map?
« on: February 14, 2015, 12:24:08 am »
We have computer literate people Paul?

Brian (who wonders why he is struggling so much in that case  8) )

PS I think the map died with the old site (along with everything else) but we are trying to get everyone to put their location in the field on their profile page.

PPS If we have any computer literate people, step forward now and be recognised!

Well that's two from Marlborough!

I had a CB900F2C back in the 80's. Lovely bike and a really accomplished sports-tourer. Thayt led to a CBR1000F-H which was K12S 20 years before BM thought they invented it.

Praise or Shame / Re: Praise

Don't worry, I am The Evil Webmaster and I know where you live!

At the moment, the only thing I have paid for is the jigsaw anti-spambot thingummy which you had to negotiate at registration time and which was an outrageous (and unbudgetted) £25 for the next 12 months. It was pay or we get bombarded by adverts and I didn't want Rae coming round and giving me another thick ear!

The purchase of the domain name, the creation of the website and the hosting of the site for the next 12 months will be approx £200 but I haven't had the invoice yet. Martin, (who created the site and provides the hosting at a knock-down price) had a sudden and unexpected death in the family on Wednesday evening, so we are actually very lucky that he could turn the site on this morning!

The ongoing annual cost (after the next 12 months) will be approx. £100 per year assuming we don't need to buy in any technical heavyweight support.

I am deternined not to make money at this lark but not to go to the work house either. The dilemma for us all is how and when we divvy up the costs; do it now and those who join later miss out on the chance to pay their portion of my new helicopter, wait too long and you might have left and not paid a bean  ;D

So, I think we wait a couple of months and then do the divvy. If we make a profit, then we either put it toward next year or we make a donation to Riders for Health or somesuch. I'm not likely to go broke in the meantime and I am taking steps to ensure that the other admins have access to all passwords and account details so If I ride under a bus any time soon, the new site doesn't get buried with me, again  >:(

The Steel Horse Cafe
B4598 Abergavenny, Monmouthshire NP7 9AY, United Kingdom
01873 840002

Great biking cafe just a few miles from the Bus Station greasy spoon in Aberbavenny and much, much better.

Great hospitality, great food, outdoor and indoor tables, helmet storage racks etc. What's not to love.

The all-day breakfast is awesome although when we called on the way back from Llanwrtyd Wells on August Bank Holiday Monday, they were just closing at 3pm as they had had no callers for hours. It was hissing down at the time so one can't blame them, but rather disappointing as we had just ridden past the greasy spoon at the bus station.

Brian (who thinks this place is a 'must do' on the way into and out of Wales from the south of England  ;D )

Much kudos to you Paul  8)
