But, does it mean the cover ends when the bike hits 80k or as was discussed in the old forum, it can continue past 80 as long as it was taken out before 80k?

Brian (who is still confused  ::) )

I went to great lengths clearing this up when mine was approaching the 80 mark. As long as the bike was on cover when it went through 80,000 miles, it would stay on cover. I think the age thing is the same - below 10 years at time of taking out the cover

That's why I use the monthly option because they don't ask "how many miles". I pay, they cover

Quote from the policy book

The BMW Motorrad warranty has a mileage limitation of 80,000 miles at the commencement date for the component cover.

So, does that mean at the very first commencement of the cover?

Or does it mean the commencement of cover the year after your bike hits 80,000 miles?

We need a high-mileage warranty owning member to tell us the truth!

Brian (who just never knows when to stopp digging)

Hello Mr Brian,

They won't cover a bike that is not already on risk if it is over 80,000 miles or 10 yrs.

They will continue to cover a bike as long as it is on risk at the time it goes through 80,000 miles. I have (as I write) 83,315 miles on a bike registered 21 March 2008

They stated: As long as I continue to pay for cover, they will cover the bike. They will write to me giving me one month's notice should they wish to cease covering the bike.

I choose to pay monthly because I do not get asked at annual renewal "how many miles". Whether this stays the radar or not I don't know, but at present it seems to be working.
