A fun test, and the Stadler protector looks very good, but I do like a bit of leather.

I find it odd that textile jackets can command £1000+ prices, but leather (at the the same quality if not better) is cheaper:

I suspect a fair chunk of the textile price is going towards the badge, the look, but mostly the ADV dreams.

Look at it this way, there is no development cost with leather. Textile has evolved greatly over the years, there are textiles out there that out perform leather in abrasion tests.

Edit: that was awesome! I like that guy, and I'm definitely aiming to take a wander over there to probably upgrade my commuting jacket to level 2 and then move its old L1 D2O over to my summer jacket.

And probably buy some 300 quid jeans because you know, yeah.

He is nice & honest, and doesn't care too much that he may upset his suppliers. Brave man.

Also interesting that he advocates CE level 1 where comfort matters more to your safety than the armour itself. It's a good point.
I may also have to visit, but not just yet. Autumn-time maybe. Someone remind me :-)

Sadly, he’s lied about Rukka’s CE certification. And he’s made nasty comments about John Milbank’s Bennetts Social reviews, stuck the knife into Hood jeans, and slagged off SHARP ratings.

But he’s a successful businessman and YouTube presenter, and MotoLegends had excellent customer service.

I rather like John Milbank's reviews. His industry insider is Paul Varnsverry who seems like a straightforward sort of expert who doesn't seem to have any commerical axe to grind (other than his own skills I guess). I can't remember which, but he pays for and wears BKS or Hideout*, which should be a hint.

In terms of SHARP, it's not perfect, but it's also a damn sight better than no testing. It needs to update from ECE 22.05 to ECE 22.06 though.

A bought a new Arai from Motolegends earlier this year. A month or two later I got an email from them offering a bluetooth headset for it, VAT free which they claimed was possible as they had included it in the original order. To be legally VAT free the headset needs to be fitted to the helmet when sold, not just included on the same invoice. That changed my opinion of them, as I can't believe they don't know this is dodgy (There's a VAT notice covering exactly this on the HMRC website) so the email is a bit of a shot in the foot.
