For Sale / Wanted / Super low mileage K1200
« on: April 24, 2024, 11:17:12 pm »
Evening all, was browsing for a new car (new to me…) and came across this ad for a super low mileage K1200. Little flag waving on the “long time unused” but might be interesting for someone. https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1692326

The time has come to sell one of the K’s, I love the idea of keeping both but realistically unless I consider it as a long term risk reduction for the other K, it should go.
Before that though, I’d like to have the valves checked for the next owner. Can anyone recommend a workshop who will do the work at a reasonable rate, in the Midlands?

For Sale / Wanted / Induction heat tool for tight bolts

I used this once and it’s been taking up space ever since, needs to go to someone who would use it.
They are selling on eBay for £170 plus postage.

I’d like £110 posted to the UK

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Old headers
« on: March 31, 2024, 10:17:39 am »
Hello - some may recall the thread last year from me on my noisy bike, I replaced the headers and now have the old set taking up space. Bike is running well, still think it’s “better” than its low mileage sibling that lives beside it in the garage.
Anyhoo, headers need to be gone, was some interest and discussion on the original thread about welding them, or not. May be useful as a a template in case anyone was minded to have some new headers fabricated.
If anyone is interested let me know and we can sort postage or collection. Will hold them for another week before they go to recycling.

For Sale / Wanted / K1300 exhaust headers
« on: November 26, 2023, 03:52:57 pm »
I have replaced the headers on one of my Ks, it was the cause of some of the noises I previously reported on here. It has a crack just before the section where it joins the rear can.
Some posters have said it can be welded, others say not. Either way it is available for any who would like a spare set and would be willing to weld the small crack.

I post this anticipating it may spark some debate, my interest is in clearing some space, let me know if there’s any interest.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Noisy K - back on the road
« on: September 27, 2023, 09:02:59 pm »
New thread on my noisy K reported on as “shrapnel and codes” - happy to report it is back together and on the road. Replaced exhaust and refurbed the rad. Only a short run first time out but feels strong and as good to ride as always. Weather depending will take it out for a good long run this weekend and see how it goes.

All being well - may have to make the call to sell per original plan or keep as a useful but  probably a donor bike for the low miler….

Will post a note after the ride and share the joy/despair for those who would like to know.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Shrapnel and codes
« on: February 02, 2023, 09:01:16 pm »
Woe and misery.
Took the bike to the workshop for an annual service this morning. Didn’t sound right when I fired it up and lo and behold - there are codes and some bits attached to the drain plug. Could I please tap into the more experienced members of this forum for some input to what may be causing a knock/ rough sounding engine, these codes and the shrapnel?

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Refurbish wheels
« on: January 05, 2023, 02:00:57 pm »
Happy new year to everyone.

I want to refurb the wheels on my K1300, I have seen mention of a few places, MCT for example. Thing is I don’t have a stand I can use to take the wheels off so will need to find someone other than a BMW dealer who would help with removal and keeping the bike while the wheels were away getting sorted.

So, would anyone in general vicinity of Warwickshire know of a friendly workshop who can help, and any recommendations on which wheel refurbisher will do a top job for me?

Advice gratefully received.
