Here's my demo fleet think I have loved and hated all of them at one time or another...but still own them.

One more Chris and you will need a bigger garage ;D, envy the collection though.

Good picture Chris but I'm wondering if you have used the bike for touring.
On a personal level it ticks all my boxes however the pillion pegs seem a lot higher than my k1300Gt.
Just wondering how comfortable your wife finds the riding position?

In a slightly different position too most as we still have every bike we have bought in the last 20 odd years...so most of the time it’s horses for courses, when I mentioned this thread too my other half...her quote ‘Would prefer the K if the trip was south of the Alps or Pyrenees.

But have to saying going from a barn door 1300GT to a KTMGT would certainly be in the realms of a culture shock...i’d Be far more inclined to go S1000XR...a far more gentle transition where BMW’s learning curve is very obvious.
Now that has really put a spanner in the works as the S100XR is a really good looking bike that I hadn't considered. At the same the KTM has the wow factor. So I'm thinking keep the K if the other half is still serious about touring and I'm not sure that she is and a KTM for me. The other option is just to chop the k for the S1000XR. LOL, you have not really helped Chris!

If there was only one keeper... it would be the XR everytime.
Your last comment has sealed it Chris.
I have watched a couple of youtube videos and I liked everything about the XR.
I particularly liked the engine note which is a great sound for straight 4.

Those airbox to throttle bodies rubbers and the ones from the throttle bodies to the inlet stubs are quite substantial so I am surprised they have perished. Good decision to replace all four, or did you do for all eight?
Only replacing the four off the inlet stubs, I'm assuming as they are lower down they are less protected.

We need a Wife Ergonomics site like that rider one I can never find! And possibly a comfort modifier based on leg lengths, osteoporosis, and how much they like their husband.

I'll get to it now in a minute. After I've been cancelled.
LOL, very good.
We use bluetooth headsets to talk with one another, so if I get it wrong there will be no escape.
Could be a good ride ruined. :-)

Or even piqued  ;)
I'd like to blame my spelling mistake on something Rae, maybe I had a fit of peak?

Thanks for the update! That's possibly a new or quite rare one, perhaps coming now with age. All useful knowledge :)
I notice you are on a Superduke GT Bernard, would you recommend it as a two up tourer? Its a bike I have been casting my over lately. Not the prettiest machine but the write ups have peaked my interest.

What were you thinking of replacing it with? A K16 or something else?
Lol, never got past the negotiation stage never mind choosing a replacement model.
I think I would prefer to stay with the 1300 over the 1600 though.

As the first mechanic couldn't find a solution I took the bike to Graham's Motorcycles in Bradford and Stephen found the problem within two hours. It helped that he had the diagnostics from the first mechanic and he eliminated it being a compression problem based on his experience of these bikes and the fact that valve clearances were good. He lifted the tank and shone a light down onto the air intake throttle bodies while the bike was running and noticed that the No 2 boot/seal was perished and leaking causing the bike to run lean and on three cylinders. It was obviously not apparent without the bike running so was probably missed by the first mechanic on that basis. I am replacing all four seals and whole cost will be £457 which is more than reasonable to get the bike back in shape. The only downside is that I was halfway to getting the wife to agree to a newer replacement :( still it's a great bike so I shouldn't grumble. Sometimes the simplest solutions are right under your nose!

The mechanic didn't think we needed to replace all four coils.
The coil caps were swapped between the new coil on No 2 and an adjacent coil.
The problem was still with No 2 which has me thinking its a wiring issue.

Yep, used a thermal image sensor. Don't know for sure but i suspect the mech will have disconnected each coil in turn to determine that its No 2 cylinder.

Hi all
I have a 2010 K1300GT which is running on 3 cylinders until around 2000 rpm then seems to run fine after that.
I have a seven mile run into work, and the bike must be burning fuel in the can as it is glowing red hot internally by the time I get there. Header pipes are fine and a fairly even temperature across the four.
I have had a BMW mechanic run a 20k full service and diagnostics with no fault codes, but he has been unable to source the problem
All injectors checked for resistance.
Throttle butterflies checked.
All spark plugs renewed.
No 2 cylinder plug cap was swapped for one of the others and then the adaptation values were reset.
Fitted booster plug which registers the air temp correctly and is doing its job enriching the mixture.
At a complete loss what to do next so any suggestion will be welcome.
