i thought spain was open again...but i'm not really following all the holiday rules closely as i wasn't getting away anywhere fancy anyway..
midge's i have experience of....nothing works...nothing. theyare an early evening animal and are at their worst just before and just after rain, various bug sprays keep them off for a short time during which you can't breath through the fumes of whichever spray you used.
the only thing which discourages them a bit is smoke, cigarettes, fire even a vehicle ticking over but you have to be able to stand in the thick of the smoke.
that said they don't like heat, cold or a half decent breeze.... so best bet is a windy day...
