One of my customers had to abandon his car in Stevenage when the clutch cable broke. When he phoned up I said take me to Stevenage in your wife's car and I will drive your car back.

It was only after I had fitted the new cable back at his place that he realised that I'd driven the car back to his place without a clutch cable. The secret is to try not to stop until you get to the end of your journey. A friend of mine used to drive an Escort van for work and would think nothing of driving back from a job in Cornwall without a clutch.

Yes, my old rally-spec Ford Anglia blew its clutch one Sunday afternoon in Savernake forest in Wiltshire (when I was up to no good). I got it back to her place OK but then had to drive back to Norfolk that night.

I was doing alright at avoiding stopping till a bloody copper stepped out in front of me in Buckingham and flagged me down. Blown tail light (spotted by his mate at the other end of the high street as I limped past).

When I asked him for shove to get me going again he wouldn't believe you could drive with no clutch but to his eternal credit he did shove me off and with a cheery wave I was away. They don't make em like that anymore. Coppers I mean  8)

I use to do clutchless up shifts on my R1150 RT constantly found it some what easier with synthetic oil in the box all the same just think if you could kick the bugger down same as the up shift degara twould be something but with out a slipper clutch one might get quite a lot of locking and bucking from the rear end 😶🏍

Have a look in your owners manual and see if there's any information on clutchless up and downshifts. None in any of my manuals unless of course you have the quickshifter and/or auto blipper which is or should be part of the design of that particular bike. That's fair enough....... But I don't subscribe to carrying out that procedure on a bike that doesn't have these gizmos fitted.

I may be in the minority here but that's my mantra and I'm sticking to it.  :)

I'm quite content using the clutch, and quite often do on the way up too, especially in town.
You're not alone  ;D

It also helps to use the clutch occasionally when you get on a 'normal' bike and forget there's no quickshifter.
I did that on the S1000XR loan bike - must be something wrong with the gearbox, come on - change! Oh.
