Ah! Dunno. What's an R anyway...

Folks with Ss have fitted the R top yoke to lift the bars so if the bars on the R are higher, then there should be more room. The Hornig site will tell you if their kit will fit an R I would have thought.
Cheers and will check it out.

Hi Doctor

The Hornig mount doesn't fit the K1300R.

Please find a link to a post I created in 2017 for your information.

The centre mount is the neatest way or you can use a "u" clamp on the lL/H mirror base which works but moves as you turn the bars obviously. There is enough clearance if properly positioned to clear a tank bag if you are intending to use one.

Perfect and thanks for this. So possibly fine on me S and use a different one when the BMW badhevis on my R I guess. Or the centre on both lol. I use a tank bag but reckon a medium extension piece between the base ball and that on the back of the sat nav would probably work.

HI Doctor

If you install the central head stock mount then you will most likely need the medium extension (4") to clear the top of the tank bag. I use a Bagaster Mini sign bag which is really compact. . Also it depends what Sat Nav you are using and the orientation of the mount. The newer TOMTOM mount is circular while the Garmin/BMW Nav is longer and rectangular. You pays your money and makes your choice.

Thanks again. Am looking at the Tom Tom 550 and yep I reckon medium arm to move the sat nav forward (over the ignition) and up to clear the bag.

Hello FP

Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like Hornig have developed a new mount and appears to resolve the problem with the previous iteration that I was referring to, NH 3/1.

They now sell both options, confusingly stating that both fit the S model but only the NH 3/1 fits the R, which it didn't, see previous thread.

So to clarify for the Doctor, and to avoid confusion, option 1 doesn't fit the R but option 2 might, but I haven't tried it, if you want a bar end mount.

OPTION 1:- https://www.motorcycleparts-hornig.com/BMW-K-1300-S/Navigation-and-Communication/GPS-Mounting.html  Article-No. : NH 3/1 Advertised to fit the S & R models.

OPTION 2:- https://www.motorcycleparts-hornig.com/BMW-K-1300-S/Navigation-and-Communication/GPS-Mounting-Plate.html Article-No. : NH 3/7sw Advertised to fit the S model only.

Thanks

Thanks all really appreciated. I think I prefer the central option (replacing the BMW badge) with an extension arm to lift/offset the position as necessary.
Top work all👍👍🙂🙂.
Cheers again,
Andrew.
