After Market Dogbones
« on: October 24, 2020, 11:58:02 am »
Having a tidy up(between MotoGP practice) found notes I made a while back about getting the old K to steer quicker.

First option where these at +16mm

http://www.sandbarcomposites.co.uk/displayproduct.php?product_id=645&category_id=120

And then these at +25 which I currently still have on bike

https://schwabenmax.de/index.php?cat=BHH002&lang=ENG&product=BK-K12

Their are various options for the 13 as well.

Coincidentally, while clearing the shed recently I came across a set of the Sandbar risers. I have no use for them so free to good home if anyone wants them. You pay postage.

10 years on my bike , the assistance provided for a short leged chap plus the low center of gravity for the short version are the benefits of such installation.
They do not come alone with the Rizoma or other torsion bar . Such a combination shortens and makes the bike far more agile with the downside friction on the rear differential gear upper portion. The bar is now removed and put for sale.

Be interesting to find out how you get on, because the majority of the time i’m Two up and need the old tank to be a tad more responsive went too 25mm, the problem being side stand becomes a tad short and needed much thicker puck to go underneath, but bike now works really well, although getting rid of the lead acid battery and replacing with a lithium also got rid of some high up weight.

And a carbon front wheel hasn’t done it any harm either  ;D

Finally had a chance to fit the Sandbar Dogbones.

Needed to buy a centre lifter as I don't have a centre stand and Abba stands are no  more (for the model). The Beker Lifter was well worth the £80. Fits like a temporary centre stand (after removing belly pan fairing):

https://tinyurl.com/bekerlifter

A subtle but noticeable difference. Doesn't tip in but justs feels more willling to turn, during my short blast around the roundabouts and dual carriageways of Milton Keynes, on the way to pick up essential supplies.

Worth fitting. Many thanks!

"dogbone" is the deflection lever. The picture you show is deflection plate. The K bike was used in some factory races 10 years ago in the EU and they used the 31mm lift plate, there are others. (lifted the butt of the bike 31mm). Made steering much quicker. Still for sale. Easy to install, when you do the job, clean and grease the "dog bone" and other needle bearings, it is an every two year maintenance item that is not listed. If you live in Europe order from the German supplier, if in the states I have three sets left much cheaper.

Well beech next time can you tell me this about 3 years ago so I can try it before selling the bike? Sheesh, is time travel too much to expect? So much for the big society!
:p

But for serious, a faster steering K I would love to give a go. Rich, do it please!

Do I get a 31mm higher seat?

If so, it may be a useful addition to my modern lifestyle.

Would a 31mm rear lift put more weight on your wrists?

Proportianally. As in, the rear axle is lifting 31mm but the front is staying put.
