Fitting crash bungs
« on: April 19, 2020, 09:44:48 pm »
Hi folks ,
Managed to get some carbon fairing panels for the k12, at a good price. Added bonus being they can with crash bugs....and the holes drilled for them   :( had a wee look today and got the the engine bolt out , and reading that I've to undo the pinch bolt to get a spacer out. I'm a wee bit vary as it's got a star head on it tho. Do I need the fevers socket or a fancy spanner to get at it. I printed out the instructions for the bungs and that and they just say ring spanner.

Any one else fitted bungs and care to share tips etc

Is that some kind of English or have you started speaking the EuroKClub native language of Gibberish?

Show us a picture of the bolt heads and I can tell you what type it is.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Crash bungs on a lightweight track day bike most certainly on a road bike about as much practical use as a chocolate teapot,as someone who has been on the floor in recent years it’s crashbars or nothing, and even then do your home work,as in when the bike is on the floor are the handlebars clear of the ground.

Of course if it’s just bling.... :)

When you say Star Head do you mean Torx?

Yes,...torx I believe. I've seen the screwhead  and have the attachments for them, but never a nut head....as it were

They are quite common just gives you the option, the difference being wrong socket it won’t fit, were as a small Torx will until you start to lean on it and then oops so check you have the right size.

Hi
I fitted R&G crash bungs recently and used a 7/16th ring spanner to remove the pinch bolt. The torx socket wont work as there is not enough room.
