Hello,
does anyone know if its possible to get an extension lead for a canbus connector.  I have a BMW battery charger but the leads are a little short.

Don't use it on the canbus, use it across the battery (assuming BM haven't outlawed that setting!).

Either way, try Elite Motorcycles ( http://elitemotorcycleservices.co.uk/index.asp?optiacc.html ). They do all the accessories for Optimate including extension leads if you can't solder!

Mr Optimate is the way to go and direct to the battery. Looked after my OE battery in the K12 for over 10 yes that's right TEN years!!!! I believe I hold the record for that should it be in the Guiness Book of Records?

The one in my 12 is at least 5 years old and perhaps even 6 and stronger than the one in my 3 year old 13 thanks to the Optimate. None of this nonsense about the Canbus connector just a short lead to the battery which serves for charging and for getting power out to the tankbag for mobile phone charging, powering the camera etc!

My battery as far as I can tell is original and is celebrating its 8th birthday next month. Never been near a charger

With your optimate do you connect straight to the battey terminals or coonect through the dinsocket .?

Sod the socket; way too finicky, especially if you have a second battery you want to keep topped up as you have to keep changing modes!

I use the Optimate battery connector lead connected straight across the battery and this 'input socket' also serves as an 'output socket' to power my camera or the phone charger in my tank bag.
