My right leg has crap up the back of it! That has never happened before. My leathers are normally er self-cleaning. I'm going to have to investigate cleaning products now. Grr.

And David - save your valuable time. You'll get no kicks out of it.
But I would agree that the RT format is a very pleasant, if chunky, way to pass motorway miles in peace.

Thanks Rich. I feel a little guilty labelling such a popular bike as "OK but a but dull and boring" having not ridden the latest model but you're comments reinforce my  preconceptions. :(

I've never really liked the GS, except the original R80, and the 1300 has done nothing to change that view. Perhaps I should get a test ride on one but both the RS and the RT seem like much better options to me than a GS.

It's the time for the fan to stop running, as defined in the FAQs, that is the best judge of things to come.

ETA This was the advice from my dealer:

The way to test the radiator condition was to allow the bike to idle when hot to the point the fan came on. If the radiator is in good condition. the fan should switch back off within 30 seconds to a minute. Longer than that was a was a warning of issues to come and longer than 2 minutes was a sign of imminent doom

Did the expensive replacement 'racing dash' fit both the 12 and the 13? If yes, then it would suggest all the inputs are common to both bikes thus the dashes are interchangeable.

I can't comment on the specifics of your suggestion but would say that, as the KTM engine puts out some really significant amounts of torque, going for the best quality chain and sprockets that you can is likely to be money well spent. This is especially if you intend to keep the bike for the next 20k miles.

... but still more than any other manufacturer offers and is in addition to your statutory rights through the retailer. (Which are generally a lot more than most people are aware of.)

I've had a number of other "tex" products and none have been as good as Gore-Tex. (None are as expensive either!) For me, Gore-Tex works, and that's the important piece.

The thing that frustrated my with the Fortnine video was the bit around sweating. Gore-Tex moves moisture vapour from the warm side to the cold side so the "outside" needs to be colder than the inside. If it's warm outside then it can't do it's job. Likewise, if it's humid then there is nowhere for moisture to evaporate to. Try wearing a cotton shirt (cotton being extremely breathable) on a warm humid day and see how well it manages to stop you getting sweaty. His apparent expectations were, at best, unrealistic.
