They've arrived already. That's better than some UK deliveries.
First impressions:
- well made, no loose threads
- 3XL fits me in body and arm, and as close as I'd ever hope for in the leg. Mir-f-acle. (an f in miracle.)
- heat/cool. They felt neutral and comfy, but that was all of 2 mins wear. I would hazard that they're not a thermal winter layer, which they don't claim anyway - more a layer to be added to in winter, and maybe on their own in summer.
- velcro test: less catchy than cotton t-shirt if dabbed on/off, still catches if velcro is dragged across but not as bad as a used/pilled cotton t-shirt
Things I can't gauge:
- shrinkage after washing
- wear
- heat/cool over a ride
- velco stickiness after their surface gets roughed by some use
For Ron's benefit I would expect merino to be better insulation - at a higher price of course. Same for silk, but I've never found a full silk set that will fit me.
> ...being too soft and flimsy...
Difficult to tell. They're thin enough - thinner than a cotton t-shirt, thicker than silk. I can't gauge actual flimsiness without wearing them for a decent time.
Overall, I'm very impressed.
I just need to go for a ride in them, but my leathers are being refurbed by Hideout, so it will be a couple of weeks.
