One really hopes your radiator holds out Chris. The Akra route neatly overcomes the leaky header problems (as would a decent welder) but the rad is one big hit if the tin worm bites or the side tank seals blow.

It would be a very wise and prudent policy of insurance if there were...

I have a friend with a 250 single from good knows what year BMW still supply him with parts when he needs them. So I am not worried.

Is that a Rotax engine? If it is that might explain it.

A new OEM rad here in Canada (Ontario) costs $1000 CAD. Not tooo bad for a new rad.

Blimey  ::)

It's about the same, £600'ish here in UK but I wouldn't call it 'not too bad'.

Obviously your sense of values is slightly different to mine  :)

Hi Phmode, I should have included the cringe emoji when I said, “Not tooo bad.”  ;D

I've just been quoting up that Quadlok stuff... Soon adds up! :D

... I do fancy it though. But I'm waiting to see if my brain forces me back to a BMW before deciding on my Nav Solution.

The 250 is a late 1950's 1960's model

Just in case anyone fits a new rad but still gets overheating - as happened to me some years ago with my K1200S.

My  tech eventually found a tiny pinhole in rad (glacially slow leakage) and changed it for a new one.  But I still got overheating.  Solution was a new rad cap - the old cap's rubber had not mated properly to the neck on the new rad, and there was tell-tale coolant staining inside the fairing.

So make sure you replace both rad and cap when that temp gauge climbs past five bars and the fan can't cope . . .
