Now we all need to keep that info in a small corner of our mind.
That is knowledge earned only by talking with friends.

Thinking out loud,
maybe an idea to have a small corner on here with a short problem and answer for things like this.

 :o

I was just thinking the same thing myself. Some keeny type needs to pull all the problems and their eventual solutions into one neat board in the Tech Section.

Brian (who wonders who might volunteer for that simpke little task)

Is this a problem that only occurs on the GT?

Would it be possible for someone to post up a photo showing where these stones sit and cause the problem?
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Im trawling through me photo's to see if I took pictures when it happened to me. I think its only likely to happen on GT's as the design of the rear frame and pedal is quite different
Isnt it Ironic, no its a BMW what dya expect.

Am with Timbox on that, the way S levers are designed can not imagine where a stone or any other could position itself there.
But cannot see clear now since have HP sets installed.

Disc is mullered,(I could tell that),but caliper has also overheated to the extent that Steve is not confident that a rebuild would make it usable.
(It is now an attractive light gold colour due to the roasting....)
A new caliper is 800 bucks on the BMW-USA price list,so he's trying to find a good,"pre-enjoyed",item.
However, the cost of the repair is nothing compared to the torture of riding his CB500 loan bike the 32 miles home.
Seat so soft it feels like sitting on the frame rails....knee ache after 27 miles....no wind protection....gutless unless you wring it's nuts off...front brake feels like grabbing a handful of rice pudding and finding a stone in it....if I had to ride one of these as a learner it would put me off bikes forever.
It better be economical otherwise I really won't develop any feelings for it  :'(....and I love anything with two wheels and an engine...my "collection",bears witness to that particular flaw in my character  8)

No consolation but you can find the price here in sterling http://www.rainbowbmw.com/BMWETK/Products/0538_3404707.php
