Is it true that the BMW system gives the pressures factored back to what they would be at 20deg C ?
Brian (whose after-market TPMS gives the 'real' pressures but he isn't sure it is accurate!  ??? )

That's what it says in the book and mine don't appear to rise as the tyres warm.

I have a Tyrepal system on my car and it agrees closely with my digital gauge. I was planning to follow Brian's lead and buy one for the bike but discovered that Tyrepal's new owners no longer supply a bike version. I don't know whether that's because demand is low or possibly resulting from reported concerns about fitment to rubber valve stems on bikes. Am I correct in my belief that the K1200s' rear wheel can't accommodate an angled aluminium valve?

I got round this by fitting a (colour-coded  ::) ) alumin(i)um valve stem as the rubber original bent alarmingly and took on a set!!!

Brian (who bought the single version of the stem but youbhave to search for that option)

That looks like a good solution, Brian. I was considering this type:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-TYRE-VALVES-X-TWO-SILVER-11-3mm-RIM-HOLE-BENDING-ANGLE-IS-90-DEGREE-/120857177821?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c23a62edd

as I had something similar on my Triumph. However, I'm sure that I read somewhere that the internal profile of the K's rear rim would not accept it.

Thanks, Rae. I'll get one fitted at the next tyre change. :)

I would have gone with the angled valve, but of course that would have added even more stress to the stem with the 10gram sensor on the end. I realise that that is exactly what happens on cars but I didn't fancy it on my bike, hence the straight one.

Brian (who couldn't determine the actual size of the hole in the rim until he got the tyre off and that included grilling three BMW dealers to boot)
