I'm glad to hear the problem has been resolved. I've heard so many tales of issues on many different bikes that eventually come back to after market levers. I'm not sure I'd ever want to fit any non OEM levers and they'd be pretty near the top of my "items to replace" if I bought a second hand bike.

Cheers, yet to take it out on the road, but they had the bike just shy of a fortnight...granted...we All have epiphanies from time to time , going away and coming back to a problem with an obvious solution at the time but  :o ...

I fitted Brembo front pads from Motorworks not long ago (yes I pushed back the pistons), they have more bite than OEM. Even the MOT bloke remarked how strong the brakes are. One finger pressure.

Yup, that is a bit rubbish. When I had my S1000RR I had them put some aftermarket levers (that they sold me) on, and after the whole theft repair debacle, I was getting dodgy quickshifter behaviour. Sure enough it was the levers... BMW had to tell me that though :P

When I replaced the front discs I used brembo discs and brembo sintered pads (found out the original brakes and discs are Brembo anyway). Very good. However thereafter BMW pads were fitted and never seemed to give the same power and feel. So latestvset are Brembo sintered again and they are better and have cleaned up the discs too.

All work completed and I'll get the bike back on Friday., delivered back.
But.......that is an issue with the front brakes. They were sticking so were cleaned (free'd up when going) . I imagine this was just a good clean etc. Now the issue is that since they are no longer sticking...the lever comes back to the bar and and no front brakes.  They bled the brakes but this did nothing

I do not have all the info , however the service guy on the phone suggested either caliper/master cylinder issue.

Anyone have any ideas?
They think what ever was sticking internally but giving me brakes has been free'd up. My only recourse would be getting some 2nd hand calipers and a master cylinder and fitting them.
is this likely to be tricky ?
I have the red light of doom regarding abs on the dash anyway.

You need a new ABS pump that's a good 1300£

Taken the bike out ..brakes are as they were before , albeit not sticking ha ha ....so all about the lever.

As for abs pump,  maybe once I'm a bit more flush I'll get it refurbed at one of the places listed that do such things

Great you got it sorted although I'm not quite sure what the relevance of short levers is to the braking circuit. To me, that like saying that someone with bigger or smaller fingers rode your bike and that affected the braking performance.

I have shorty levers on my off-road bike (so I don't trap my little fingers when using the two big ones to operate the controls) and have no problems with the brakes.

Yup. I think with my RR clutch lever I'd adjusted it too close for my small hands. Although mine was still in the set ranges 'supported', and as you say, yours managed to go outside that range.

Seems like the custom levers often allow for more customisation than the machine/setup is designed to support. Bit iffy really when it's something that anybody (even passers by) could fiddle with and make things dangerous. It's made me think twice about the value of custom levers. And also the value of buying a bike where the manufacturer thought it worthwhile making their OEM levers adjustable.

10 years later none of those firms have managed to produce a refurbished pump that operates more than two years in a row. Sincerely hope someone will make that happen.
