I bought my K1300S Motorsport from BMW Glasgow last June with 1800 miles. I’m the third owner. It has been great but we are emigrating so it has to go before we do! I did think about taking it with me but too much hassle.

The bike is pretty much perfect except some scuffs to the carbon kick plates. It has the BMW Paniers and BMW Sat Nav. I replaced the tyres about 500 miles ago. It needs an annual service - was due in May but BMW dealer told me not to bother (most likely it will be bought by a dealer and they would service just before selling). Just had MOT.

Is is currently at 4500 miles so must be one of the lowest in the country. If bought privately it comes with the remaining 12 months of warranty.

£10,500

I usually can’t be bothered to sell privately as don’t like the hassle but offering on here in case someone is interested.

Looking at bikes for sale in NZ I found a dealer with a new GSXR 750. They are no longer being sold but they still have some stock. 25% discount so under £8k. (I used to have a GSXR as well as the K1300S until an incident on track). Seems like too much of a good bargain to pass up on the opportunity and won’t have to worry about transporting the BMW.

Definitely easier to sell it and buy something when I arrive. But I am enjoying the K1300S.

The Euro K Club Lounge / Moving to NZ - take K1300S?
« on: April 18, 2019, 08:13:23 pm »
Planning to move to NZ in August. Thinking of taking the K1300S Motorsport with me. Depends on how much it will cost to ship with my other household goods. I could sell here and buy there but no doubt I will lose lots on the sale and even then I doubt there will be many Motorsports with panniers, sat nav and less than 4000 miles for sale in NZ.

Anyone moved their bike abroad?

Anyone ridden in NZ?

Praise or Shame / Douglas Park

I bought my K1300S Motorsport from them in June. Went to ride the bike on Sunday and battery was dead. Had to get bike recovered to local dealer. They had to replace battery and that that would be £172 please! Not covered by two year warranty as consumable item.

However after speaking with Douglas Park they agreed to pay as battery was presumably not 100% when I bought it. I thought that was nice (especially as they didn’t quibble).

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Charger and bag
« on: July 03, 2018, 10:49:45 am »
I was assuming I could use an optimate charger with my K1300S but my local garage (not BMW dealer) said that there was a separate charger for the K13/BMW bikes (canbus system)? Is that correct? Can someone post a link showing what charger I need?

Having bought the K13S I have finally organised my first bit of touring! Going to Wales with some friends in August. I have the panniers but would like a soft bag to go on the tail (I have a rack). What would be the best one (or best options)? A link so that I don't buy the wrong one would be great (I did a quick search but there seem to be a number of options)!

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Ground clearance - rear sets
« on: June 23, 2018, 02:08:49 pm »
Picked up my K13 Motorsport yesterday. Done a couple of hundred of miles already.

Motorsport has the adjustable rear sets. Previous owner had them on the lowest setting. After a couple of hours on back roads my knees were a bit stiff so not sure I would want to raise them. However they seem fixed (rather than hinged) - wouldn’t that be a bit awkward if it hit the ground? On that point, how much clearance is there on the lowest setting? I would rather have sore knees that risk for grounding the pegs.

Not that I am some peg-dragging hero! But have had the peg down very occasionally on other bikes. But they were always hinged.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Forged wheels v standard

The motorsport came with forged wheels. Are they actually  lighter than the standard wheels (meaningfully lighter)?

Waiting for my K1300S to be delivered a week tomorrow (yah!)

First touring bike I will have owned. Have never done any touring and with current bike (GSXR 750) that probably wasn't going to change. So have taken the plunge to add a K1300S to my garage. Did flirt with the idea a couple of years back (at that point I had an S1000R) but it would have been a straight swap and ended up going in the opposite direction (changing the S1000R for an 899 Panigale).

I did flirt with the idea of a Hayabusa or ZZR1400 but having done some research the K13 seemed to be very popular with those that do tour. Also attracted by the shaft drive with promise of less maintenance and loob free wheels!

I am 5'9". I do use ear plugs and have a Shoei GT Air.  Will give it another try when I pick up the bike as perhaps I didn't get the ear plugs in properly.

Have agreed today to buy a 16 plate Motorsport with 1800 miles. Will come with the panniers and BMW Sat Nav. Planning to do some light touring. Hopefully Wales this year. TT or Europe next year. I have never toured before. Logic of getting the K13 was to give me a prod to get off my arse and try it!

When I rode a Motorsport last weekend (not the one I am buying) I was surprised that there was so much wind noise. Is there a better aftermarket screen anyone can recommend?

Any other changes I should or could make?
