You went 30 miles without a baby-sitter? Foolish or brave young sir, foolish or brave.

I absolutely loved my R1150GS and swore I would ride it into my grave. Not just so soon eh? I didn't need a licence shredder, bought it initially for commuting at which it was excellent and toured Europe and Wales on it with much glee; a really easy bike to confuse faster bikes on in the twisties and through roundabouts and it simply flew up hairpins the way no sports tourer ever could. But...

I had been off a bike for a few years and still had my much loved but non-running Honda CBR1000 F-H flying fridge which was an excellent predecessor to the K and fast as a fast thing back in the day.

And so I realised that I still had a sports tourer itch that needed scratching and two K's later here we are.

The 1150 was fabulously easy to ride and nowhere near as ginormously plastic fantastic as the 12s and none of them have really done much for me although when the wrist problems were at their height I was seriously considering one again.

And, although not something that would bother you for a day's loan, those wheels look way easier to clean than the abhorrent ones on the K and folks with Motorsports don't like cleaning them too much either...

Seconded.

After cleaning mine last month it rides at 3 bars when pushing on, climbs to 4 on occasion and then in town the fan comes on and it hits 5 bars but the fan always brings it down. I'm happy with that performance.

There were/are two 'pristine' Motorsports on eBay but both had more rot than my 2012 and that was with less than 5,000 miles...

Handy French government petrol prices website, that’s also good at finding where they are.

Weirdly, the government site seems to omit Supermarket filling stations altogether for areas I know well, whilst Google maps shows them with current fuel prices.

Excellent idea. Glad I thought of it...

So, what is your 'scope? Is it a dedicated one or some sort of app-based thingummy? We should all have one anyway.

...and with scopes costing peanuts these days I wonder why we don't all have one.

What were your results or were you just playing?

The displays are different for sure but as to whether the cluster will fit and work is anyone's guess unless Martin fancies stripping both his 12 and 13 down to give it a go.

The rubber button on the dash is the most fiddly thing on god's little green earth on the K13, from memory the switchgear on the 12 was less so.

I can't remember off-hand the sequence for the trip zero'ing on the 12 but I would make sure that you are pressing the thing properly as mine (a 13) really doesn't respond to a gentle touch.

The gauge is a well-worn problem but my first job would be to check the connector to the pump to make sure it is seated properly and there are no chafes on the wiring.

The black forks are definitely an improvement on the red one and strangely the silver seems to go with the black better. Who knew?

You can buy the crash bung plastic bits separately and just keep the mounting hardware.

Ah, I didn't know that Brian, I'll investigate.

I say 'is', I should say 'was' back in 2013'ish.

That looks well impish in all red. You rarely notice the little horns on the black one but they stand out like, well, impish horns on the red one. Looks like a totally different bike.

I'd call that a result Rae, especially given the circumstances.

The answer is that YOU stand by the tap so YOU can turn off the water when YOU want.

It's not as much fun but it depends on the state of the relationship whether that matters.

Special challenge:
- Click on image to spot the K oddity

That'll be the rather non-standard seat on the Motorsport. Did you get that off a cruiser?

You'll need to look a little harder to spot the real oddity...
