Blind Veterans Charity Run August 2016
« on: June 10, 2016, 09:25:56 am »
Hi all I have been on this event for the past 2 years and it would be nice to have you along. The start is at Moreton in Marsh Fire College and ends at Ovingdean (Brighton).
There is acommodation at the Fire College which is adequate and on par with Ibis red.
There is a stop at Loomies for lunch. It would be good to have a showing from the EuroKClub.

https://www.blindveterans.org.uk/what-you-can-do/events-calendar/ride-for-life-beyond-sight-loss/

The event is on the 13th August not the 12h as it says on the site ( I have emailed Rachel about it)
Single room is £60 including dinner and breakfast and the ride is £15. The ride takes place on the 13th accommodation is for the 12th.
Last year there were about 50 bikes which were spit into 2 groups.
Take a look, see what you think and let me know if you fancy it.

It is a weekend  :-[ Saturday 13th August. I am meeting up with an old mate who lives not far away I haven't seen him for about 10 years.
So I may get there before the main group so I can spend a bit more time.

A bump for this. A good ride and a worthy cause.

OK Tim well done.
I have an old friend that I haven't seen for quite a few years that lives not far from Loomies. My plan is to ride ahead of the main group and arrive a bit early so that I can have a bit more time with my mate. I plan to get to Loomies at about 11.30 the main group should arrive at 12.30 and stay for an hour. That should give me a couple of hours with my mate.
I will ride with the main group from Loomies to Brighton. Last year the pace was a bit sedate but the lead rider did pick it up a bit from Loomies once I mentioned it.
It'll be good to see you again.

One other thing Tim, if you stay at the fire college on Friday and if you behave yourself I might get my hand in my wallet and buy you a half of shandy  ;D

Shandy is too strong for me, I'll stick with an Earl Grey

A good time was had by all  ;D
Met up with Brummie Brian and Lucian at Moreton in Marsh and bumped into Timbox at Loomies. It was a fairly sedate ride from Loomies to Brighton, there were about 70 bikes on the ride so a good turnout. The food was good at the Blind Veterans Centre we went for the Thai curry and noodles which was hot enough without blowing your head off  :D. After the meal and a drink we said our goodbyes (sorry Tim, we left you in the loo) and made our way home or in mine and Brummie Brians case to the hotel.
It was a good weekend which I thoroughly enjoyed and I'll probably do it again next year.
Met up with my old mate Andy and his lady.

Here is me and Andy

It was good to see you again Tim.
